Luddite Question About Brembo Levers

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by richgilb, Jan 1, 2016.

  1. So are they referring to the large or small piston ? And I would have to remove a caliper to do this. Surely there is spec data somehwere?

  2. My interpretation is, in a 4 pot caliper, both pistons would need to be less than 32mm to work with the 17RCS m/c. What year is your 900ss rolling chassis ? The information might still be available through the Ducati.com web site or someone on here should have that info to hand. Failing that I'm afraid it's time to ge out in the garage. Andy

Had a quick look and you might have a 4 pot 30/34mm caliper so the 17RCS might not be suitable. Hopefully someone will post confirmation of the size soon. A

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  3. So upgrading to a radial master gives more feel than the OE and choosing 18 over 20 gives you even more at the expence of increasing the lever travel. Mmmmm, food for thought. Andy

  4. Danger, danger! Thinking leads to looking, looking leads to spending! :Woot:

  5. There's no going back now, YOU provided solid engineering evidence that that I MUST have this absolutely ESSENTIAL upgrade to improve my riding experience, so it's YOUR fault . I haven't looked to Santa to spoil me for years, so it's down to me and I now have a great reason :). Look to see a recently seviced Brembo billet 19x20 front brake master for sale very soon. Andy

  6. But you've already got a radial unit (a billet one at that ), so the only thing you'll gain with the RCS is the ability to reduce it down to 18 and you'll likely stick it back on 20 anyway but hey don't let me put you off :) bagz first dibs on you're old POS one :D

  7. No arguement with your logic but the combination of the radial master, 748R calipers, SC pads and pukha 6mm fully floating race discs, the braking is to say the least aggressive. A 2 finger application is fully capable of locking the front wheel so I'm keen to see if I can calm it down. I'll pm you when I sort things out and we can haggle a deal. Andy

  8. Andy, be very honest and not taking the piss at at all you will not get your lap times down by fitting a 18 lever. Save the money for some tuition. When you down to the low 1min 40's at cartagena then look at the brakes.

  9. Absolutely right but when I said the brake is currently aggressive, I really do mean on or off with very little movement at the lever. Even a small improvement will be a positive and there is also the confidence issue, I really would like to be a little more confident that when I get the braking wrong I'm not going to put myself on the floor. 1:40 something ? In my dreams, perhaps closer to 2 minutes :upyeah:. Andy
