Now I may be a bit naive but I thought the 7.5k service was just an oil change and general check over? Riders Cardiff want £155 PLUS VAT for that. That seems somewhat bloody rediculous if I'm honest, or is that just me?
The oil and filter probably retails at nearly £50 so i guess they have added and hour and a bit labour. Doesn't seem unreasonable in this day and age.
I paid £170 at m/ch Ducati . They also ran an ecu check/update,lubed the chain & did a general check .
'Bout right.....job is booked at 1.5 hours, oil and filter is £50 or so then HMRC take their cut. Labour rates create the biggest variances. I think some are up around £70 per hour, most are about £45-£50. A customer of mine got slapped for £110/hour on his BMW though, so could be worse.
For a £12-£15k bike it's pretty good to be fair, my last blade service cost more than that and it only had 3000mile on the clock.
Stop whinging and take it like a man, for fecks sake its a ducati... My 600 mile service was just under £200....:wink:
Wait until you have to pay for the Desmo service at 15000 mile then you'll have something to really whinge about. Why do people spend thousands on a high performance motorcycle and than moan about service costs. They may seem steep but think of the costs the dealers have, premises, staff, equipment etc, then the have to make a profit otherwise they close and we have nowhere to go. And then there will always be regional differences in pricing so it's not always helpful to compare one dealer to another.
You must have plenty of money, good for you! Unfortunately for us mere mortals, trying to get the best value possible is a cold hard fact in the current economical climate.
Disagree. IMHO it is just plain common sense to check around and compare your experience with others. I have been to about half a dozen Ducati dealerships and they have all been well presented (plush) and many run race teams, can't help but think its the customers that are paying for it and there must be a lot of money in being a Ducati dealer. a new large dealership has just opened near me in Reading (Aug 2012) and I already have 2 dealships within 15 miles.
I don't have plenty of money, just realistic. I always try to get best value but we all know that Ducati's have always been more costly to buy and maintain. So why do we moan?
To be far if I owned a Mutley then I would do the minor service myself and just keep the receipts which is what I intend to do when I finally buy one.
if we did not talk about it, we would not know. :wink: If a Ducati was cheap, then we might think they were 2 wheeled tractors with dodgy gearboxes, rear breaks, electrics etc, but because they ARE expensive we know they are good. :tongue:
Suppose so but by the time I buy one it will likely be out of Warranty or certainly will be by the time I have done 7.5k
