What holds the seat in? I.e torx screw etc? Fitting a seat tonight and forgot to look what tools I'll need
Another vote for the comfort seat from me. I have a 1199 though and they have a different seat than the 899, I noticed a large difference when I fitted mine, but the 899 seat is already taller than the 1199 seat so the switch to the comfort seat might not be that obvious. Saying that, it looks pretty with its lovely red stitching
Yeah I would like to get one I think just to see if I can get on with it, I've been put off by the higher seat position but it might give my knees more room
that nut looks a little on the rusty side, i hope you havent been doing the un-thinkable and riding it in the rain? :rage::rage::rage:
Ah... It's other salty body output that has caused it... But yes. It has gone a little the other way! And also so has my chain which despite my best efforts is hanging! I know a few who commute have had issues with standard chains so I'm over it, will get through winter then decide whether to change it
Race seat for me, no problems after 2 hour rides. After two hours I'm tired or the bike needs fuel anyway so it's a wee stop either way.
I've always rode right up against the tank on all my bikes so havent really had any problems with the standard seat. I was wondering if anyone had fitted a tank extention?... as my knees are miles past the fairing/tank cut aways. Anyone else experience this issue?
Yes.... Same problem. Race seat helped keep some distance between my man parts and the tank.... And positioned my knee better.
Is the comfort seat higher than the standard seat ? I like the position on the standard seat, but I slide around on it a bit, and from a purely looks point of view, I think the comfort seat looks cool
I have the race seat on mine (1199) and its slippier than a very slippy thing which results in your gentleman's parts continually and firmly against the tank...... Had the comfort seat on a previous bike and that was much better.
I've just fitted the race seat to mine My arse finds it actually quite comfortable, which I wasn't expecting and it's super grippy on my leathers, which I found a bit of a problem on the standard one It'll be interesting to see when I get it to the track if it's too grippy to make moving around more difficult and the trade off of not sliding in the standard one becomes a pain Anyway, here's a pic for comparison with race seat fitted and original seat in my hand - the race seat is a good half inch taller at the front too
