I want to change the underseat heat shield on my bike, 1098R Bayliss, to carbon fibre. Ducati don't market a genuine replacement so I've been having a look at various sites to try & find one. On e-bay there's currently four different options, price varying from £100-£150, I not too bothered about price, I want the best quality & fit available. The one's I've found are Carbon world, RLA developements, Corse & a company calling themselves Ducati on-line who are claiming to be supplying carbon fibre from the offical factory supplier. I know of various other carbon suppliers ie Illemberger, QB carbon etc but they don't seem to offer the panal I'm after. Can anybody give me their opinion on any of the one's I've found so far, or offer any other options, like I say, my main concerns are quality & fit. Thanks.
Try contacting Carbon King, who posts on this forum, they may be able to supply you with something, or at worst help with some enquires. There stuff is of top notch quality
I have the RLA versions and both sides have cracked in 2 places near the front. (cracks about 1cm in lengths and growing) I took them to someone about repair but they said it was only a very thin carbon layer over glass fibre and that made it very difficult to repair the cracks without exposing the glass fibre (which is white) They are too thin and flex until they crack imo. So they are in effect toast. I have some other RLA bits which are ok but on the underseat panels, i would buy quality or not at all.
Thanks Jester....they are one of the manufacturers that I've found that do the panal I'm after......looks good quality....but it's always better to hear from somebody who's got the stuff!!
I've been looking at that underseat seat panel as well though i'm changing the parts that can be seen first
