I wanted to return to motorcycling after an absence of 15-20 years. I have taken refresher courses and passed with flying colours. I have trawled the internet for motorcycle manufacturers websites, and found page after page after page after page of similar, ordinary, uninspiring motorcycles. Then I looked at Ducati. All of the model ranges are unique, all are different to the other manufacturers, all are beautifully styled, all are 'marmite' bikes (love 'em or hate 'em), all are top performance, high end vehicles. I have bought a Diavel. What an awesome machine. Every time I stop for fuel or ride through towns, I (the bike) get admiring glances and comments. I'm so happy, and cannot stop smiling !!!!! Do others experience similar reactions to their Ducatis? Happy Days
Ducati are one of those bikes where ive had admiring looks, people waving, and even old biddies stopping to say hello. Classic beauty, not only that, the bikes are gorgeous too.
Welcome, I have been wondering what the clutch is like of the Diavel. Is it like the superbike, ie having to slip it below 30mph or is it more traditional? Welcome by the way
Hello and welcome. As has been said, you've bought a bike that just has that something special that gets people talking and smiling. Enjoy it, your own smile tells you enough!
Just out of interest where have you put the tax disc on Diavel? You might want to look on here for advice when it comes to renewing the tyres and one people have been known to use Ducati for any spares/ bling they require. Finally try Ducati insurance.......... welcome, do you wear Ducati chaps with the Harley sorry Diavel?
Get yourself a dark/mirrored visor if you havent got one already, people think you are are a bit special if you have a perma-grin! Unfortunately this is unavoidable whilst piloting a Duke, young and old LOVE the things! Looks like a proper motorcycle, SOUNDS like a proper motorcycle...
Howdo you .... Even if I park my couple of grands worth of 20 year old SS next to a row of £10k+ IL4's, guess which bike attracts the admirers/questions? Enjoy it ...... as the man said, you start a Honda, but you bring a Ducati to life!
They are Magical Beasts... Jap IL4's will just be another spin-cycle plastic missile, but my Scarlet Thunderbus turns heads like nothing else I've ever ridden!
I've had a red monster and now have a yellow streetfighter and a white MTS 1200. I have to say when I park them up they've been getting far more attention than the red one ever did, I think Joe Public likes the change of directions in colours I saw a Pikes Peak at a bike stop on sun and it was mobbed I think some wanted to lick it, looked gorgeous really stood out amongst the rice rockets
The tax disc holder is just below the seat on the near side. I've already insured with Ducati Insurance. They gave me a competitive quote and a policy I am happy with. Thanks for the note re:tyres. Not sure about the Harley reference though. IMO, they are more of a characature of a bike. The entire Ducati range are different from each other and all other makes and I love 'em - all styles, all colours.
The clutch is OK, but it feels like I am always in the wrong gear at low speed. My mate says this is how his Panigale behaved at first, then loosened up as the engine bedded in. This is also how my Diavel is behaving.
