Agreed, but then I also don't like how the front of the panigale got fatter and fatter to the point of the 1299 which I think is too wide about the headlights. I guess it's evolution to satisfy usability or legislation.
Now the dealers are starting to get demo bikes, has anyone had a spin on one yet ? I got a call from Ducati reading last week saying they'd got a demo on the road, but it's too far for potentially a cold, wet day for me to both making a booking
Interestingly snells have all my details, I told them in Aug that as soon as they knew about the 899 replacement I wanted them to call me as I'm ready to buy, and never heard a Dicky.... I bought my used 899 in September though and definitely not regretting it
How will anyone buying one know about this thread? They'll be blind so they won't be able to read it.
Could all the 899 owners stop trying to bum up the 'I'm so happy with my 899' I know you all want to sell in time buy the 959
Nope, that guy is horrific! I hope he has gone by summer, he doesn't even have the courtesy to say hello to you when you walk in! It was Nick I think, oh well.... I've heard such good things about them that I'll use them for the service and see what they are like but not a great start
I might when summer comes along, funds permitting. The exhaust isn't enough of an issue to stop me wanting one and in any case there will be some very sweet looking aftermarket cans no doubt. Interestingly it seems Euro 4 may sound the death knell for Triumph's 675 Daytona.
Because they don't sell many. I remember when they released the facelift that they said then had they known how sales would fall in that sector they probably would not have updated it. Triumph's Triumph + The End of the Daytona? -
It'll be interesting to see how the 959 fairs against the 675 as the Daytona gets phenomenal times in tests, punching way above it's weight. In the Michael Rutter tests in Performance Bikes magazine the 675 is faster many of the litre bikes, a different class to the 899 and other 'Supersport' size bikes.
I think I picked up that the 959 would be quicker on track than the 899. Something about carrying better corner entry speed. Am I talking shiite?
I'm looking to sell the KTM 1190 starship for something physically smaller and racier and I'm still toying with the idea of a 675 to try some racing with less money at risk than if I used the Panigale. I love playing with all the silly power of the big bikes and would miss it but I'd learn loads in the process.
They sold around 160 in total last year mate, I know I am as shocked as you but I'm pretty sure it's a goner! T3 racing made a comment on their Facebook saying "may be the last one we see". It's really sad, but it's a 600 class sport bike and the market is dead, Ducati sold 16k scramblers worldwide last year and 8k multistroodles. I don't think that making it 800 is the answer either unless they keep all the Ohlins etc and make it so it can really compete with the 899/959, that's too bigger risk
I picked up a 899 at ducati Leeds last saterday and they reckon they sold two 959s that week, so somebody must like them
