Hello From Finland

  1. Hi! Just thought I'd say hello as my first post. Coming from and living in Finland, I did live in Aberdeen for a couple of years as a kid, and also 7 years in France when younger.

I wanted to get a bike quite late, I passed my licence when I was 23 or something. Got a Yamaha 125 YPVS from a friend to start. Then bought a Honda Transalp which I had for a couple of years. Had a break for few years, then flew to Germany with a friend, where we bought two Honda VFR 800 and rode to Austria, Italy etc before riding back home. Then sold it and then the house, the kids...

After a break of 6 years, I wanted something with more soul. I was told that Ducatis were the Ferraris of motorbikes :) After a lot of investigation and reading, it appeared to me that there are reliable when properly maintained, and only the service might be expensive. As I want to do my own servicing, I was then focusing on the two valve desmoengines. Also, as I like to tour, the choice was then crystal clear, an ST2.

I bought mine this fall for around £1400, has 35000 miles, sidebags, Quill exhaust, and the regulator changed.

I always like to modify a bit, so changed the indicator lenses to clear at the back, removed the orange at the front and put some orange bulbs which are silver coloured. Then when to the stein-dinse website and ordered an original Ducati Comfort Kit. Still need to install the bar risers though. This will be done with all the servicing during this winter.

It does have torquey engine, and because the power output is lesser than the ST4 for example, I pay about £200 to insure it all year round. In addition of the servicing, I will be trying to change the front tyre myself. Also, I know the electrical wires are shi*e, so I'm considering the kit from Exact-start. Any opinion on this?

Also will need to be looking at the maps, as I'm planning a trip to either sweden, norway etc or then to estonia, latvia, lithuania etc.

Sorry for the long introduction, lot of talk, not a lot of photos :D
