1200 DVT 2015 Dvt - Brembo M50 / Front Discs > Metalic Noise?! (see Video)

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Nuno, Nov 23, 2015.

  1. Hello Ducatistas, since the beginning, my MTS 1200S 2015, does some weird noises on the front discs/brakes. It only does these noises when I'm NOT braking and mostly when the steering is turned left or right. The videos show it better...

The dealer has explained me that this is normal to happen because these M50 Brembo callipers have the brake pads a bit loose and the discs are fluctuating (it seems that Diavel and other models have the same "problem").
I don't feel anything on the bars and that noise does not happen when I'm braking.. also I don't ear anything when I'm riding.. I just find it strange and wanted to share. I've google a bit but didn't see anyone with the same complain.. Is it just mine?

    Cheers!

  2. It is a general recent Ducati issue. Multistrada, Diavel, from 2010 to 2015 behave like this, so it is not an M50's problem, not exactly at least. I didn't found a unique and final reason to this, I found it really annoying riding in the rain because it becomes really loud. Mine reduced a bit as I cleaned the clips of the disc: a lot of brake cleaner, compressed air, a long bolt with a nut to lock them and rotate them while you shoot the cleaner and the air. Sometimes it is still audible, but it is rare and tolerable at least.

  3. I don't like it either but had it checked in two different places one at Ducati's and second at a racer friends shop both said it's normal. In a quite garage it can get on your nerves but I tend to start up the bike before moving it a cent so I don't hear it so often. I guess I can live with it :)

  4. Thank you both :) I believe it's "normal" as the dealer said, I'm just still getting used to this "normal" stuff that's only "normal" for Ducati. Well..
It sounds like a vuvuzela :D

  5. ;)

  6. I had a similar issue with the M50's I fitted on my 1200S, it really pissed me off. I cleaned everything, got the seals replaced and callipers cleaned professionally, changed the brake discs. It would be better for a while and then and it would still sometimes happen!!!!

Technician suggested copperslip on the 'lugs' on the brake pads where they touch the callipers

Especially as I was coming towards a stop, as you say like a grab every revolution.

  7. Mine does it too, only the offside caliper. No warping is evident and braking is stunning. So I'm just ignoring it!!

  8. My 2011 makes the same noise when braking... My local shop said they changed the rotors to wave type and the problem went away....?
I have no idea why it makes the noise but it's very annoying...

  9. My 2013 Multi does it as did my previous Triumph Speed Triple which had the same Brembo calipers.

  10. My DVT does it too !!! Thanks for the explanations.... at least I know not to worry now. Nick
