  1. I had no idea there was such a rich seam of van knowledge on here.
btw yes I doubt it would be safe to stick the dogs on a trailer....

  2. mechanics and racers.

  3. if you do lots of miles then its important that it drives well, i've done 46,000Kms in 12 months and it has been like driving a car....and you don't want to breakdown on the way to the track......!!

  4. No expert on the law, but I do not see a problem having dogs in a trailer if in a cage, or a box, with a cage, well ventilated, lets face it horses, pigs and sheep are towed in trailers.

  5. Dogs may not be too pleased though. I bet the trailer would be a cold and very noisy way to travel and they wouldn't have the human company for reassurance.

  6. True JH if they are pets, not all Dogs are pets Working Dogs, and live out doors, but I guess OP was generally referring to Pet Dogs :)

  7. Us and Ducati....makes a van a must!

  8. ducati. leaving people stranded since 1947?

  9. Would help keep the illegal immigrants at bay.

  10. I just tow one of those tree shredders hoping they don't know the difference.

  11. my master is in for mot sat, if it doesn't pass and its more than £300 I'll be looking for a van too

  12. I drive a T5 daily and love it, had my monster and Daytona in there no probs, not had the pleasure of squeezing the multi in there yet but I imagine mirrors would come off, carbon screen I think may fit in lowest position. T5's are overpriced but they're awesome if you spend a bit of money on them and want to drive it like a car not a commercial vehicle, and as been mentioned they hold their value well.

  13. That's the route I plan to go when my little Partner dies. (I'm determined to get it to 200,000 miles first). I thought the later ones still used the Peugeot engine. Is that right?
That's the big selling point for me. The vans may not be as luxurious or up to date as Fords, Japs and Germans but they are substantially cheaper and the engines are indestructible. (My Partner has got to 160,000 miles without using any oil between services. And it has no rust).

  14. yip. the smaller engines up to 2ltr are peugeot 2.3+2.8 are fiats. the jtd and hdi's are superb engines.
aye. i get the 200k thing. :smileys: almost there with the mrs vitara and my panda. just one last push.

  15. DO NOT....choose an LDV Maxus....engines are very weak, until rebuilt by experts (£3000).
Same Italian engine as many taxi's....
either the main bearing goes at 60-100K or the liners split causing water to piss out everywhere, blow core plugs, radiators or associated pipes.

They may appear good value....they ain't.

I love my sprinter....but it cost more than my Lister Jag....

  16. Could I check what size Sprinter you have i.e. wheelbase please. Been thinking about this route myself but have more than one bike and wondering what you can get in them Would defo go for the higher roof type,Cheers g

  17. Hi, I'm looking for a van and wondered about the VW T4/T5 LWB Transporter.... I need a van that would get 2 bikes in together ok... Say a 1098 and a 999?..... Thanks......

  18. My Master passed with a couple of really minor things, incl test £72.

So £800 van, 250k miles, since has done 12k miles over 3 years with nothing but a flat battery and sticky brakes because it sits for months

That gentlemen is a bargain that continues to give :)

  19. Without mirrors probably just. Lwb means you can stagger a little, so my not be able to put on paddock stands

  20. Go merc or VW - it's the only option I promise you! Transits and Vauxhall vans are guaranteed to do a diesel lift pump and they are crazy money
