The nice APC man delivered my Nitron R1 today. I've been waiting in anticipation for the last couple of weeks to see whether it will live up to the hype. Basically this is a road biased shock, but will hopefully be far superior to the Sachs unit on there at the moment. I've not had a chance to get out and fit it yet, but I'm pretty excited to see what it feels like compared to the standard unit. Looks nice sat in its box anyway Once it's on and I've had a ride, I'll post up my thoughts for anyone interested...
I have a race pro on my RSV4 and was so impressed I bought an r3 for my z1ooo. That in turn while I was trawling the net I came across a thread on a BMW forum and some bloke bought a second hand set of Nitron shocks for his m3, wasn't impressed and the owner of Nitron asked him to take his car to their premises in which it then spent a week in the workshop and the whole setup was serviced, rebuilt and set correctly. The bloke who ran Nitron said that he couldn't very well have anyone rubbishing his products and took appropriate action. Now that's, customer service....if I could buy a nitron for my supermoto I would but it doesn't exist...
Nice :sunglasses: Couldn't quite stretch - or justify to myself that I would make the most out of - a R3, but would have loved one. They had no problem spending time with me on the phone to go through my options. Customer service so far has been spot on.
Yep - the only reason I have the r3 is the nice people at paypal gave me 4 months interest free so I thought fuck it....go for the top boy.... On the rsv4 I took out the stock ohlins and put in the race pro - as luck would have it the lad selling it was the same weight at me so the spring was right as well....sold the old ohlins for 370 quid and bought the race pro for 430 so it cost me 60 quid to change....bosh, have some of that.! theyre so beautifully engineered I almost don't want to put it on (them) as they'll get dirty!
Yeah - I was reading about the BMW while I was waiting for the race pro....anyone with that kind of commitment to his company deserves to be invested in!
R1 is now fitted and looks bad-ass! The only thing I'm slightly disappointed about is that there are no mounting points for a shock guard. Other than that it went on a piece of cake and looks great. Just need a dry day to get a test ride in now!
I agree, looks really lovely!! I like it exposed without the gas chamber but think it would have look weird with no guard had it have had the gas chamber.
Shock Looks good. Just wondering is that a full termi system or just he slip on. Thinking about upgrading to a termi exhaust but not sure wether to get just the slip on or blow it and get the whole system. Cheers
Looks great. Did you swap it over yourself? If so then any tips on supporting the bike during the swap. I've a ohlins to fit. I only have a front and rear stand, contemplating Jack stands under the footrest body?
My bike has just the slip-ons. I personally don't see a need for the full system, it has plenty of power as it is and you get the looks/sound at almost half he price. [emoji106]
I did do it myself yes. I used one of those crappy car jacks, the type you get inside the spare wheel and put it on the rear tyre, using a small piece of wood to protect the tyre, and lifted the tail of the bike. I put the bike in gear and slotted another piece of wood under the rear wheel (bike on paddock stand) to stop the wheel rotating. No need to remove the rear hugger either, really easy and simple.
Cheers. I got mine through one of their distributors on eBay after having a lengthy chat with Nitron over the phone about it all. It was the same price as going direct to Nitron but I got the Nectar points too [emoji106]
I have a abba stand and honestly it's paid for itself 10 times over across my various bikes! You do have to remove the lower fairings on the Ducati to fit it but it's a good excuse to clean up the front of the engine. I'm about to put my shock back in today, has a shiny sticker on it!
Cool [emoji106] Bet you can't wait to try it out! I'm interested to know what you think about the work MCT have done to it.
Will update you when I try it mate, the only slightly disappointing thing is that they didn't include a setup card so I'm not sure whether they have left it on standard ducati settings (albeit with the much improved damping circuit) or put their own set up, will have to count it when I put it in. Did you thread lock your mounting bolts? I'm going to put a little bit on them I think
Yep I stuck a little blue loctite on the bolts and torqued them up to 45nm. I'll check them when I've been out but I'm hoping they'll stay in place ok [emoji15] I did ask MCT about the 1199 Sachs shock and they've not worked on one before, so weren't sure if they could do the same work to it as per the 899. It's odd, they said they get tons of S models through the doors, but no base models. Maybe I'm the only owner who thinks the base model setup is shite [emoji848]
