Hi All, I'm looking for a tail light / brake light unit for my Multistrada 1200cc 2010 (2010-2014) Also after a center stand if anyone has taken one off. Thanks David
I rather fancied one of these ...E-Marked Tail Turn Signals Led Light Smoke Fit 2010-2014 DUCATI Multistrada 1200 | eBay but didn't like the arrows £50
Thanks, I looked at these too but I can't decide if they look tacky or not? Also didn't like Scottish-locking into indicator harness for the indicator function, jury is out on these but thanks for taking the time to send me the link. Much appreciated
You can fit it without wiring up the indicators I suppose so just using it a a rear lamp.... may be ??
I got one of these. It's fine and a LOT cheaper than the original! LED-Rücklicht/Heckleuchte schwarz Ducati Multistrada 1200 smoked tail light/lamp | eBay
Yup!! Goes straight in! Plug is good quality too. Been on mine for a few months with no issues. And the smoked lens looks pretty cool without conspicuously changing the look of the bike. If you weren't looking for it, you wouldn't notice the change.
Really appreciate that, look great I must say, I'll see if an original turns up at a reasonable price, if not then it's on the list .. Many thanks again.
Does this one have better (stronger) mounting points inside, to stop that annoying nodding dog impression when the oe ones break?
My old one didn't break like that so I didn't see that problem. Can't say whether these are stronger - they look pretty much the same.
About Sugru | Sugru Oooh. Sounds like handy stuff to have in the backpack while touring. Gonna order some! Thanks for that.
Been using it for a while now and Sod's law, my company signed them up as a customer a couple of weeks ago so I got some freebies when I went to do the install [emoji106][emoji322]
Thanks for all your messages' I've done a repair on the rear light and all is well with the world, So for reference here is the procedure Drill out the wax plug in the top / back side of the unit, this allows either ....... 1) football inflator sealed with blue tac and carefully inflated Or 2) an airline with a trigger blow attachment (my way) Here is when you look up and pray that the lens comes off in one piece, Hold the lamp assembly in one hand so as to catch the lens as it pops off the housing using the air pressure inside the lamp POP ! it should now be a lamp unit and a separate lens Clean off the White powder (finely ground plastic) with the airline or carefully with a foam electrical cleaner (nothing too harsh) and you will notice the centre plastic diffuser moves back & forth, this is what is wearing away, carefully lift up the longest side at the outside of the diffuser and this comes off really easily, clean and look for the small black marks left where this has been rubbing, this is where to apply your hot/cold melt gluegun blobs. Re-assemble using a fine bead of clear silicone sealant around body of the light where the lens seats, press together firmly and hold together with strong elastic bands. Don't worry about silicone getting on the body, it cleans off easily...... Important stage ......... Move away from the lamp ! Leave for 24 hours to cure Remove the bands and plug the hole drilled with a little blob from the glue gun now it has had chance to breath. Marvell at your fully restored rear lamp and spend the cash on something else !, The way I see it is if your going to bin it to replace it then it's worth a pop (if you'll pardon the pun) Cheers David
Interesting! I couldn't figure out how to separate the unit to attempt a repair so I just bought the replacement. I still have the old one and wouldn't mind a crack at fixing it but I don't have an air-line - would a foot pump do it?
Ideally a quick blast would give a better result as the pressure is applied quickly from an airline, a foot pump would work but it's keeping the air in the unit for long enough so the pressure builds, this is the key, a foot pump with a football valve would work but only if the unit is sealed and has no air leaks, having surplus air from an airline is more desirable for the best chance of success. Do you have a local tyre company who may have a compressor line you could "utilise" ? Or do you live / travel in the South Yorkshire area and I'll loan you my airline to give it a shot?
Ah, nice of you to offer Dave. Thanks! When in the UK I'm down in Wales though. Work abroad most of the year. I was thinking, I do have a electric car tyre inflator (plug into cigarette lighter type) I'll give that a go when I get around to it.
