Thinking Of Going Over To The Other Side.. What Should I Do?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Noods, Jan 30, 2016.

  1. Hi All..
I'm thinking of going over to the other side and just not sure if I should or not.. I know it's personal taste and all that but. My last post or twos been about me feeling Ducati losing the plot and the latter bikes not having that certain exclusivity anymore esp since VAG came onboard, we had a great debate about it all..

I've been looking for a special bike one to keep long term as an investment , eh a limited edition bike, with already crazy prices on 916 sps s etc I've been struggling to find anything and then this came to my attention...

    It's the MV f3 800 RC..
Limited edition bike .. A phone call and & £1000 would secure as I have a first refusal on one till next week.. The only thing I don't really like is that the engine is exactly the same as the bog standard version inc bhp.. So in essence it's a flash paint jon a plaque and fancy cover for the extra money..

    Can't make my mind up..
Full details are on the MV website..

    Many thanks

    NOODS..

  2. I must admit, the only current Ducati that does it for me is the 1299. I'd buy one if them if I could but otherwise a Ducati to me means pre-2012.

  3. I know exactly where your coming from. Hopefully MV will not start bringing out bikes where tassels and petunia oil are compulsory accessories.

  4. I love the f3 I really do, and nearly bought one.... BUT... The 'RC' is just not special IMHO, if u want special then you should be looking to pick up the 675 serie oro.

  5. At £1000 I would by it anyway ;):Angelic:

  6. I fully agree... It's beautiful alright but it's not as if it has an exclusive engine package like you would get with a Ducati R .. But then it's really good value for the £££ ...AMG are now part owners of MV now so they will prob get ruined too..

  7. You said it yourself. It's just a paint job and a plaque, is that special to you?

You wanna get yourself a minter of a 1098R - ticks all your boxes!

  8. I think the RC should have had an Ohlins rear shock and a steering damper (honestly the steering is scary light even just sat on it in the dealer)

I would also say there are a few fit and finish items that let it down like the horn wiring catching on the headlight wiring as u turn the bars.!

Finally, I just think MV do too many 'specials' and make too many changes to the model, however next year its likely to get bigger quieter exhausts like the new brutale so now might be the time. Especially as it looks great with the 2016 black engine

  9. And therein lies the problem, how many of the current crop will stand the test of time ? I know it is said that you have to speculate to accumulate but funding a bike purchase as an investment is a risk too far for me. Someone has got to want what you've got when the time comes to realise the capital value. Good luck with your search and get pictures up when you find the right bike. Andy

  10. I have a MV Turismo Veloce alongside my Streetfighter and 749s and I must admit I have been casting an eye towards the same bike. I have had an 800 Brutale as well and even in standard trim that engine is peach. Totally different to the Ducati but go ride one. MV are doing some great bikes at the moment.

  12. If you want it enough, buy it. If you don't, don't.

Only you can decide if it is worth it, to you.

  13. They still acting dealers for Moto Morini over there? Always fancied a Corsao Veloce but I not brave enough (or rich enough) to risk something as obscure as that.

  17. I went from a sf848 to a brutale 800rr as after 4 ducatis nothing was floating by boat and don't regret it, it's not better than the streetfighter, but it's no worse either and it's lots of fun quick shifting up and down the box. It's definately more agressive to ride as well.

  18. Id have to say aprillia - ive got an rsv4 and the only thing id sell it for is an RF. Like gimlet said and I agree if (and when I go for another duc) itll be an older one. Almost got my old hyper back last week. The new one: well, they missed the boat again....

Having said that ive not ridden an 800 anything so I don't really know what that type of engine's characteristics are compared to my RSV4...

  19. Huge fan of the MV800 I imagine its a blast to ride

  20. I'm just used to litre bikes...as some would know a few years back I had an r6 forced upon me and it turned out to be everything I hated in a bike (apart from the look, they look nice..thats about it). My 525 supermoto I have now is great but almost feels like riding a bicycle compared to the rsv4 and my zed...id almost be scared of getting say, an 800, then thinking...fuck! its gutless to what I used to have...that kind of thing, but then, that's what test rides are for!
