Fellow members, Im sure this question has been asked before, as the title suggests i would like to send off my two piece suit to be cleaned. Its been hanging in my cupboard for years and i didnt clean it before i put it away. In fact i have never really cleaned it properly. I remember reading in a bike magazine years ago about companies offering cleaning services. Any suggestions?
I use turtle wax cleaner and conditioner on mine. Comes up really well. It's meant for seats but it does a decent job of mine.
Mine came up a treat with johnson's baby shampoo warm water and a sponge then to moisture/nourish the leather with a leather conditioner like bubbin the clear version of what oldies like me used to put on their football boots back in the day. Works a treat
Leather is just skin. Treat it like you would your own skin - soap and water is a good start; if it's too dirty scrub it a bit but not too hard. Don't use harsh abrasives which you wouldn't use on your own skin. If it's a bit dry, massage something into it to moisturise a bit, like neat's foot oil or hide food. Hang the leathers up, don't leave them crumpled in a heap. If the leathers are totally clapped out beyond retrieval, get out your wallet and buy a new suit.

Thanks for all the replies guys, all advice appreciated and taken on board. Had a bit of spare time earlier and decided to try a method i read about earlier. Gently cleaned the leathers with hot water and washing up powder and rinsed it with clean water a few times, making sure not to soak the leathers not too much. Was surprised as to how much dirt i removed, but cant seem to take out the really heavy stains, also, i think parts of the leather may need re-colouring as the white bits are quite badly stained. Will try the turtle wax cleaner tomorrow or send them off to a professional cleaning co. Cheaper than buying a new set.
When I saw the title of the thread, I thought you must be Joey Boswell.............God I used to f**king hate 'Bread' :Banghead:
Tried baby wipes, the dirt was ingrained, last sued them about 10 yrs ago, since then they been gathering dust. I think they need something stronger.
White is different from other colours. Generally the colour is dyed deep into the leather, but it is not possible to dye or bleach leather true white. The leather is dyed a pale greyish colour and the white is sprayed on like paint. If the white surface has worn off, no amount of cleaning will put it back on.
Damian at Scrubbers Leathers told me baby wipes were damaging to leather suits and advised avoiding them at all costs when cleaning leathers. Can't remember why.
Hi mate Have you dealt with Scrubbers? It looks like I will need to send suit to someone who knows what they are doing. I give up. Baby wipes are not recommended even on baby's, dry out the skin.
Dainese do a return to base service I believe, and I've heard they come back like new. That's where mine will go.
Dealt with the owner (I think his name is Damien?) 3 times. 2 dirty suits mailed to him and he once gave lots and lots of free advice and sent a small free sample to remove biro ink from a set of leathers. He didn't ask for payment and was more interested in me letting him know if the sample he prepared had removed the ink. He told me one of the manufacturers trusted him with its leathers that had been soiled / damaged in stock, transit, whatever. Perhaps it still does. Both sets of leathers I sent him for cleaning were returned in great condition. He keeps notes on what treatments / mixes work best with what brand / range / colour of leathers. I had great service from him although I understand he can become exceptionally busy. I'd give him a call first should you have any doubts. Best thing about the service is that you get to keep a contact in your phone under the name "Scrubbers".
