I am picking up some 1199 race fairing tomorrow as i think i am going to just track my bike this year. I want to get the fairing sprayed up and I've seen this lievery on a game i think is pretty nice and i think i've seen someone's bike on this form with a similar design. I am pretty sure i've seen it on this forum unless i've dreamt it up lol! If this person does lurk on here can you please come forward and tell me where you had the design done , pretty please
I've found them, i knew i saw it somewhere! Its a member called Niven770, his paint schemes look awesome. What I would like to know from him (i'll drop him and message) and also if you can put any input in. My mate knows someone that specialises in painting bike, not sure about livery like this but i am just wondering to end up with something like below will i need to provide some of the decals or will it all just be painted on? Shapes, numbers, possibly the large ducati sign on the side fairing? I also really like the splash of blue from one
@Bazz Its the same bike, I had both jobs done. The top one is Carbon Fibre fairings from 2014 BSB Moto Rapido bike which I had painted up, Full Six I think. The lower one is genuine Ducati race fairings which I had painted up which my mate has since bought from me. All of the work was done by Bike Paints in Cupar. The top one was taken from the Ride motorbike game........the exact picture you posted above Track is the way to go
thanks for getting back Niven, both styles look awesome you have good taste! Ride game is where i saw the design before and thought if i ever go down the route with track fairings that is deffo the design i would have. Then i that pic of yours not so long ago and thought it looks even better in flesh. Picked up the fairings today and took em over to this guy my mate knows, £2000 to do it penmouth:ead:!! Spoke to the guys and Ducati cov and asked them who does all theirs for the tri options cup and they put me in touch with a company called rage designs. Spoke to him earlier and sent the stuff over. He said he did Ducati Cov's for around £695, so there or there abouts i would be happy with. Will have to wait and see what he comes back with, might be sky high.
To some, yes it does make a difference if you repaint the OE fairings and not just because they want an original bike. Some insurance companies consider a non standard paint job makes the bike more desirable to thieves so up the cost of premiums. Some people look for race rep paint jobs and some just like the individual nature of a personal paint scheme. If it's garish, think twice, if it's tasteful do it and enjoy. I will add a caveat to that, I wouldn't modify the original equipment of a "collectable". Andy
I must confess if i saw a bike with a non-standard paint job my first instinct would tell me its been down the road at some point.
Well I don't buy from dealers or sell to them . But from my past experiences of buying bikes .. I love to buy something different and always choose a bike that has been done up nicely with a clean service history above a standard bike roughly at the same price range as a dealer ... I have also noticed .. If a dealer does a have a race rep .. They always sell it for more money .. Keep the receipts and take photos of the panels before you spray them from a reputable company . What's stopping someone spraying the bike to a standard finish once your all done .. Will look exactly the same .. If someone crashes a bike and puts standard fairings genuine off eBay and sticks them on .. It's all about the paperwork.
Just to add I think the bikes pictured are all amazing! I think if it was me personally I'd buy another set of fairings and paint them and keep originals standard. I do like the look of the track pani.
I agree, I still have all standard R stuff. As for it being worth more or less, that will be very subjective but I would think you will reduce your potential market if it's non standard.
I would say you lower the value, not everyone will like it, and to me I would think its bee down the road, I know a lot havnt, plus your limiting your sale market.
That's my plan. Take the old fairings off which are in pretty good nick and put track ones on as they are gonna take the wear and tear from track use. Then when I come to sell it switch em back over and they can have other fairings in the sale of the bike. I'm not too worried about devaluing it, I take care of my bikes and I hope that when I do come to sell it the person buying Will be able to tell that it's been looked after.
Got the bike booked in with Larry at Illusion race paint. After emailing, calling around and doing some research he was the only guy to get back to me quick and with a reasonable price, very friendly chap as well. Really looking forward to seeing what it looks like complete, think i will be getting it back around the beginning of April, hopefully! Just a quick one though in my race fairing goody pack i came across these 2 bad boys packaged with the nose cone. Are these fairing extenders for the front? And do i need to fit them? Also if i want them fitted will they have to be blended in to the main bodywork with filler?
Yep, they're fairing extensions, you could get them blended in if you wanted to I guess, but I think people just run them like this... Whether you want them or not is up to you, I think they offer good wind protection on track. If you do a google search I'm sure you'll find some opinions out there on them.
