They say he's test riding but it must also be to see how he fills on the bike for a few race's like Pirro has done last season.
nice interview with CS Casey Stoner Video Debrief After First Day Back At Ducati | MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks
Stoner faired no better than Rossi after the change to carbon fibre and mounting stuff on the air box. Stoner's hayday was on a Ducati with a proper frame. I don't and have never liked Stoner but you cannot rubbish his success on both Ducati and Honda. Andy
I am of the opinion that Stoners single minded approach from childhood to succeed in m'cycle racing is not without a price. He can't seem to do anything else, which makes his stop-go GP racing antics look foolish.
I wouldn't say foolish exactly but I can see your point. Ultimately he's a two times world champion at motogp level, he's also widely regarded by his peers as simply one of the fastest and most talented to throw a leg over a bike, the guys saying that aren't average joes either, they're also multiple champions themselves, many of which would usually be too proud to admit something like that. I wish he'd race again that's for sure, he's clearly still got it as proven by the recent performance of a 3 days test on the older bike, the bloke is astonishingly talented and fast out of the box. Imagine another years worth of Ducati development and testing.......2017 could be a whole different story You never know, maybe that itch can't be scratched anymore by testing alone. Given a nice easy year and finding his feet back with the media he might just pop up on the grid in a years time. One things for sure though, Cal Crutchlow has taken the crown for the biggest moaner in the paddock, fuck me that boy can complain
I think Mr Rossi has now taken that award. Dovi has to up has game, his test times were woeful as was his second half of last season, contract up this year and i dont think it will be renewed, maybe Ducati are thinking long term ???
If Redding or Petrucci have a good year and Dovi doesn't he could be relegated to Pramac. Ducati have wanted Scott on their bikes for a few years now.
He's British - he's probably best at queuing and drinking tea as well On a more serious note I hope Stoner doesn't come back in one respect - racing is in danger of disappearing up its own fundament: the rise of classic racing, the comeback wildcards in WSB etc etc. MotoGP needs to be looking for the new and the future. who are the stars of the future. I'm curious about Scott, Ducati clearly rate him, (as do racer mates of mine who've seen him race) but he didn't set the world on fire on the Honda.
Indeed - but he retired. Rossi is still there I think I'd be less bothered about people looking to the past for the answer if it wasn't so prevalent elsewhere. It's a view, if he meets the rules and pays his entry fee, he's as entitled as the next man, I'd just rather they brought on some spotty kid from nowheresville to be the new thing.
Who's the spotty kid you'd rather have than Stoner? Why would Stoner have to be the pilot you'd preclude? Im my mind, only Lorenzo and Marquez are similarly quick. So why not kick Rossi, Dovizioso, Ianonne and Pedrosa off factory bike and onto the dole for the mysterious wonder kid? Me, personally......I'd rather watch this than try to nurture a unknown, they can work their way up as Stoner did. If they have the talent, they should succeed.
