So fit new rear set today, and very nice they are too and take the opportunity to see if I like the different fairing bolts. Jury is still out. So now the bike wont electrically find neutral. When turned on the headlight comes on as normal and when you hit the starter, it turns the headlight off. errrrr, righty ho! My thought its ive nicked a wire somewhere as I cant see a sensor on the gear shift. Oh the wonders of Italian bike ownership. This is why Ive still got my 954
I will say this though. I have ridden this bike and ridden it hard. Crashed it twice...on track so, I'll cut her a little slack. When the petrol runs out, I plan of having her in my lounge on permanent display
Didnt take the gear rod off. Only unhooked the end attached to the rearsets. Ive had a play about this morning and following Martins advice, made sure the sidestand was up. Got it to start easily enough which is a bonus, so its leading me to think its a fault sensor....Going to take the fairings off again and have a little explore
Well everything seems to be connected, but it clearly isn't. This is starting to look like a van job at the moment. How very annoying
Will it start with the clutch pulled in? Is the neutral wire on the sensor, on the back of the engine?
If the switch is buggered the wire going into it only needs grounding, the green light will illuminate (constantly) ecu will be fooled, bike will start, joy to the world! ompus:
The bike fire fine with the clutch in and I believe the sensor it on the back of the cases on the other side of the engine. Happy to be corrected. Google image search and running through my workshop manual hasnt really helped much :-(
Possibly a stupid question but when did you last charge the battery? Has it been running much? Might not have enough juice to turn over but enough for lights/ignition etc
Battery is fine and I know the bulb works because it lights up during the start up sequence. All I can think of is the sensor
