In my opinion, Dan is getting this flak due to the way he closed the site. No warning to anyone, he just shut it down. Yes it was his to do with what he wanted, but if you ask me he should've posted his intentions. Sure people would've been sad to see it go, but at least we could've salvaged the info we wanted, and had time to say our goodbyes as such. I wish Dan well, but don't agree with his actions. It would've taken him less time than it's taken me to write this to post something up, surely that wasn't too much to ask?
Nick, a perfect summary. I would just add that he's destroyed any value in the place by not selling it when he had the chance. And offers.
If folks think back a little further before The site closed Dan suspended the site for maintenance. He posted that everything had got on top of him and he needed to sort it all out. He also told us that it was getting too much balancing home life work and the site and was considering closing the site. That was met with a flood of offers to buy help etc on a massive thread and I am sure hundreds flooded his E mail inbox. He knew then that when the time came to shut he would be bombarded with E mail and pestered beyond belief. I was extremely sad to see it go but I think I can understand why he locked the front door grabbed his hat and coat and sneaked out the back door. Try and imagine Dans life when he turned on his computer and opened his mail I don't know if he needed his e mail for work but i wouldn't have liked to be him trying to find that important E mail You might think he was selfish but Ducatisti was his and he maybe couldn't stand the thought of someone else having it and moulding it to there vision Where's the problem this place is just the same but different. I would not be suprised if and when the furore about its closure dies down Dan might raise his head above the parapet and release the info
As the originator of this thread and in light of the posting by Ducati Coventry, I'd like to offer an apology to Dan for assuming he'd sold the domain. Fair enough, mea culpa for me being ( as I suggested in my post) too bloody cynical! Still wish Dan had handled the shut-down differently though! I'll shut up now!

Since Ducatisti went squit, I've been plodding about with Ducati Up North. Good info and advice but nothing like I used to get. I'm not sure how long this forum has been up and running but accidently stumbled across it on Gumtree of all places!! Good to see some familiar faces on here tho
