959 New 959

  1. I think the sales are slow purely because people know that normally they would have done the exhaust deal and haven't yet this year. Plus there were a fair number of people who bought 899's just before Christmas

  3. Yeah, I'd agree with that. At the end of the day if you look at the 1299 and 959 side by side it's definitely what you notice.

I think if it was a completely new bike it would've been less of an issue but because it's essentially a smaller engined version of another model it gives you a direct visual comparison as to what it 'should' look like.

  4. as it happens my local dealer had the two next to each other yesterday and it hits you more a 1299 and 959 shame really because I bet its a cracking bike.

  5. Worth a watch!!! Really interesting comparison between dyno results for the 899, 959 and the 999.

  7. Sure does seem to be making the bikes more and more compromised, fair play to Ducati though for employing more tech to manage the situation as much as they can.

I'm sure the 959 with full exhaust and some airbox mods will be great

  8. yep full system be good but then is it insured on the road or will the insurance co. take the piss and have a get out clause.

  9. Nice video. You can see the back of my blue GSXR track bike in the background @ 10 seconds. I was down at JHS today to collect it. [emoji106]

It'd be great to see how the 959 performs once it's modified to breath better and the mapping has been tweaked.

  10. The only issue I have is that the full exhaust is knocking on £4k with the body mods, and the air box mods and tune is going to be another £500 or so
Add that to an already £13,500 bike, and you might as well just buy a 1299

  11. and if you want a 959 not 1299 stick it in wet mode

  12. Interesting

  13. The 1299 argument keeps coming up but it's silly if u don't want a 1299cc engine to go and spend 17k on one and then use it at 50% power.

Personally I also think it's silly to spend 4K on a non-homologated exhaust system that will be a pain when it comes to the police or MOT.

I would buy an 899 or suck it up and live with the 959 with shotgun Akrapovic's or wait for an aftermarket pipe

  15. It's quite an interesting thread this as the BVG / 44 teeth video rates the 959 highly but does suggest it's a little more savage than the 899 when you roll it on, thus have to be a little more mindful riding it (he actually states that)

So if that's the case, and you'd be having to spend so much on the 959 exhaust just to clean up the look, why wouldn't you buy the 1299?

I mean obviously we can talk power of the 1299 and the under use on the road, but if pushing the engine and characteristics of the 959 means you have to be mindful anyway surely it negates the argument that the 1299 is over powered for the road?

Of course, when sc project or somebody knock up an exhuast for £700 the 959 becomes better value, but if it's a comparison using the akrapovic then I'd probably go straight to the 1299
