Turned up some old pics yesterday of my old CB750kz. About 1990. Remember those Lazer and Motad pipes?
Had a Motad on my old XJ900F. The original system rotted out about three days after the end of the warranty period. Good old Yamaha. The Motad introduced a fascinating black hole of a flat spot between 4.5 and 5.5k rpm. Oh how I laughed.
Yep the Motad 4 into 1 pushed all the power up top and left a hole in the midrange. I had a XJ 750 seca as well which was a eight valve engine and I put a Motad on that too (often the only pipe available) and the effect on that bike was even more pronounced. The Lazer was a better system and the enamel finish was good quality too. It was tough. Honda built parts bin specials in those days. The tank was quite a sexy shape. Nice and curvy, not the coffin Superdream shape fitted to the CB750F and the CB900. But they fitted the Superdreamy Comstar wheels and the tail light unit was the same as that fitted to the CX500. :Meh: But check out the Marzzochi gas shocks. I had to sacrifice a lot of beer vouchers to get those..
