899 Changing 899 Wheels

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Miike, Feb 11, 2016.

  1. I'm currenting looking for a white 899. When I do finally find one I'd like to change the wheels/wheel colour.
My budget won't currently stretch to carbon unfortunate, has anyone tried powder coating them? It'd be easier to put black 899 wheels on but I haven't ever seen any for sale on eBay.

  2. Gold looks really good on a white bike or get your wheels carbon dipped also looks good

  3. Please don't get your wheels carbon dipped. That's so tacky.

I used a company in Barnsley called metal Magic. About 110£ for a pair.

I had a set done black a couple of years back and they was nice quality and quick.

Had 4 sets of car wheels done too.

  7. Thanks, did you change the bearings after. Have heard that once they've been in the oven the grease drops out and there shot.

  8. here's a white 899 with gold wheels.

  9. The bearings had to be removed. I purchased some new ones when I had my wheels done as they wasn't expensive.

  10. Love that!

  11. Said so [emoji23]

  12. That you did!

Have you ever seen one with white wheels?

  13. No mate wouldn't be a good look

  14. Have you thought about plasti-dipping them? That way you could return them to their original colour if you ever wanted to sell the bike. Granted the finish wouldn't be up to the standard of powder coating, or be as hard wearing, but it's dead easy to apply and looks great. I've plasti-dipped my two sets of track bike wheels and they're holding up great :upyeah:

  15. I'm not a fan of power coating because of the finest far better getting them painted professionally
