  12. Be interested to know how many of clarksons fanboys have bought one of them firestick thingamejigs to watch their hero on.

    Bet its not very many

  13. Indeed, smacks of indecision, and an extended job interview.

They will all be trying to 'out- present' each other....

  14. If I have not been let down by my memory, Sabine Schmitz was quite an entertaining character when she appeared in at least a couple of the programmes. She can certainly teach white van man a thing or two about how to pilot a Transit. I won't be watching but that choice could be inspired. Sadly not the case with Eddie Jordan who has clearly lost his job now the BBC have given up F1. Andy

  15. I find it amusing that people believe that the new top gear will the same format but with more presenters...

I'm reserving my judgement until I've seen it, I can't see how a reasonable person could make their mind up about it any other way.

EJ is opinionated and knowledgeable, Sabine is a great driver and entertaining to watch as is Harris, Matt Leblanc was always funny, the new guy is very funny too (google him, his car reviews are very good), Stig thrashing the nuts off ridiculously expensive cars is always entertaining and the Ginger one is good in a studio and passionate about cars too. Will they work together? What will the format be? Will it be any good? Only time will tell...

  16. I think a lot of people are remembering the old Top Gear with rose tinted glasses. By the last couple of seasons it had got pretty stale, overly juvenile, and seemed to be more and more an ego massaging exercise. Even JC had clearly had enough. Some of the old World drive challenges were great but just try watching the Patagonia Trail again...

Chris Evans is a Marmite man but very talented in TV production. With Matt LeBlanc (big fan via Episodes!) and injections of EJ it will be really opinionated and have some life. Getting the international input is very savvy of the BBC for it's global marketing. Still a shame that Guy Martin couldn't be persuaded to be one of the part time team.

I am looking forward to the new series and am optimistic that it will work. Let's give it a chance and not shoot it down yet.

  17. Eddie Jordan is very possibly one of the most annoying little weasels ever to grace TV.

I won't pass comments on those other fellas as frankly I've never heard of them, apart from the gingerbloke and joey from friends......the latter I like as he's very much a bike fan.

Honestly I think it's a guaranteed flop (comparatively speaking of course)

Top gear was and still is one of the BBCs biggest ever export series, if you don't like Clarkson, hammomd and may then fair enough, but the statistics suggest you're in the minority.

What this shows is that they didn't get commitment from any of the initial prospects, it's a parts bin special and last resort lineup

  18. There'll be a demographic that it'll appeal to.
Expect an ad campaign in the red tops and frozen food shops...
