Do you guys notice much difference in sound and power after installing Termignoni slip-ons on an 899? The cost are high so wondering if it's worth all the money:flushed:
On my 1199 never noticed nothing apart from a slightly louder sound... ended with a custom home made grizzly exhaust.. all cored out ... holes drilled in the baffles etc.... Unless you have a full system .. then there are some gaines after a tune / dyno
I have a mate with an 899 with Termi's and the up map, and to my ears, there's virtually no difference to my standard exhaust 899 other than a very slighter better base tone. His bike does pull on mine very slightly, but he's also 70kgs, when I'm 82 as well as his bike being on 7k miles when mine is under 3 so that might account for more of the difference than the up map They do look cool though, and supposedly even out the torque curve a bit
Thanks guys. Then the question is if I should go for Termis or save some more £ and go for the 959 then (even how much I dislike the stock pipes on that one)? Has anyone tried both 899 and 959? Edit: Didn't see your report before I postet this. Thanks @graeme4130 will stick with my 899 until further (but the Termis are tempting.....)
Reviews seem to suggest that it opens up the bottom end of the motor nicely and adds to the response on the throttle, also the stock cans are 7.5kg with the termi's being about half that. However you are correct, it's a lot of money!! Mine has termi's but I rode the demo 6 weeks earlier so honestly can't really say I have backed them! I would say with the baffles out its seriously loud and sounds lovely, but with baffles in its possibly even a touch quieter than stock...
Yes, it's a single allen bolt holding them in. On the 1199 the up-map helps smooth out the bottom end, but I'm not sure if this is true of the 899. The do look great, but if it's more noise you're after, as Phil has already said, with the baffles in they're slightly quieter than standard.
Akras are the future, the full akra system on my 899 sounds beautiful so much better than the termi end cans i had on before,on tickover they sound the same but when you crack the throttle the akras sound sublime.
As you say the rrp of the full system is obscene,i managed to get a system second hand and with the sale of my termis it was not to bad on the wallet,if i ever replace the 899 i would sell them on or put them on my 2nd gen 1199r.
I had the stock cans on my 899 up to the 600 mile service, I then got the Termis fitted with the up map. As revs had been limited up to 600 miles I can't comment on if it feels different with the Termis. Regards the sound, it is a much deeper sound and pops a little when hot, mine have the baffles removed. Also they look awesome, so worth the cash in my view if you can afford them.
I think termis have been shit and over priced for years, they have welds my daughter could upstage and she's not even 3 years old. Akrapovic are a far better quality but even still the Ducati systems carry an additional tax, akrapovic are fairly expensive generally but if it's a ducati system simply double it and add a bit
No they are designed to run with no baffles, the baffles are just a horrible inconvenience to keep them quiet
I felt they made a big difference. I bought some second hand, popped a race filter in and had Wilf at MotoRapido load a custom map on. Sounded bloody awesome flat out from the pitwall at Jerez.
No mate but there is a 'cored' system on eBay cheap where someone has taken the catalytic converters out. It's quite cheap also and could be mapped up
