  1. Black and carbon. Stop teasing the man!

  2. I'll sell my black 899 wheels for £1500 if you like and then I can buy some OZ's

  3. i sold my standard rims for a grand, made the swap to the oz rims quite good value.

  4. Wow, I didn't realise they were worth that much! I understand 1199/1299 S model wheels being worth a bit of cash, but not the heavy crap the 899 and base model 1199/1299 has!

  5. I would sell mine for £1000

  6. Cracking deal mate :)

  7. I think i should expand on my reply, the only reason i got good money for my wheels was because i sold them to one of the 899 challenge guys, they all need spare wheels and they do get discount off there spares but a second set of rims are well over a grand,i was just in the right place at the right time.

  8. Another question if anyone knows... When powder coating a wheel, do you need to leave the bolts in to stop the thread getting coated? Or is the coating easy enough to remove?

  9. They can put a putty type of material inside to stop any coating getting in but you should really run a tap to clean the threads.

  10. Ah right, thanks James

  11. Normally with the powder coaters I have used, you are expected to removed the bearings and the valve. They then put foam in the holes that don't want a coating. Other provides may be different. Not too sure but the heat of the oven might affect the sealed bearings. Andy

  12. Defo strip bearings and tyre valve

  13. I'd just get a set of Oz wheels mate there ace.

  14. That would be ideal, but I just spent way more than intended on the bike, I need a new boiler, and kitchen and other boring stuff unfortunately!

  15. Just don't tell her mate!! There 0% finance aswell at bike torque racing.

  16. Haha there's no 'her' dictating what to do with my money. I have two mortgages and a bad spending habit so trying to behave myself!

  17. Ha OK bud.

  18. Well, I did order some OZ Piega wheels but after 10 weeks the wrong ones turned up. I was pretty pissed off and cancelled the order.

I've decided I've got plenty of other stuff to spend my money on this summer so am going back to the powder coating option for now and see how much summer costs me.

I bought a front paddock stand and managed to get the wheels off. Took them into a local garage today to have tyres off, bearings out etc. I've just picked them up and they've left something in (not a clue what they are called, picture below) saying that they are really hard to remove and they normally leave them in for powder coating. Im supposed to be dropping the wheels in to the powder coaters tomorrow but it's quite far out of my way for them to send me away to remove said parts.

    Does anyone know the score?

  19. They are the Cush drive rubbers. I would think the easiest way is to heat up the wheel, tbh u may be able to do it just by soaking the rim in a really hot bath but may need more heat! Then when u put them back in the wheel freeze them first

  20. I've found a video online of someone using a heat gun and a type of bearing puller that doesn't seem too expensive. Might give that a go if the powder coater says they need removing.

    Thanks Phil :)
