Hole in the rad is what they told me. Got off the phone just as Pete asked me that. All done under warranty. Got a few things to sort for my MOT though. Fork seal weeping (I have a seal mate under the seat that will solve that and some Kriega protectors too), my aux lights foul the steering (they don't really, it's so minimal they just rub a little) and my pads are down to the metal (I have all new pads ready to go on when the rad is sorted). Did say my chain and sprockets are worn but I always prefer to do this stuff myself. They'll have me spending 1k on new fork seals, pads, disks, chain and sprockets otherwise.
would possibly do all Multi owners a favour if you could confirm which part of radiator failed JH. Ok - if just a jubilee clip then panic over
He described it as a broken down radiator with a hole in it. Had a rad guard on since early days so I'm guessing it's the internals on the rad that ballsed up. Will ask for clarification when I collect it. They are ordering a new rad from the Ducati farterland.
fellow biker has the very same (also with rad guard - definitely rad core failure) who we (PeterT/Torquepen/Chris) happened to visit yesterday.
Must be one of those dealer "first one I've seen like this" faults then [emoji106] Glad it happened one month before my 2nd hand warranty expires.
If mine really goes wrong, I think I'll end up with an mt09 until something better takes my fancy. I would like a bike that I can do some miles on and not have to worry about it going wrong. I've done about 8000 miles since the engine last blew itself up and my rad has gone, I've had two weeping fork seals, my clocks randomly reset and I developed an engine vibe/rattle that went before I booked it in. That's not a lot of miles in my opinion and I'd trust most of the other brands out there to manage it. Not my first Ducati, probably not my last either; but every one of them has ended up costing me a lot of money.
Sorry to hear that J.H. makes me feel very fortunate/lucky. I had a 600 Monster that was plagued with trouble but that was mostly down to the last owner being a blatant liar looking back.
Bike collected. Have to get a new chain on order pronto as it's pretty loose. Sorted my weeping fork seal and will do brake pads at the weekend. Got warned that I have a lot of electrical accessories running on permanent live. I very confidently told him I have nothing at all running permanent live. He then told me just as firmly that I do and that it was all charging now (bike off). I then looked, told him nothing was charging, turned the bike on and told him that it still wasn't charging because they'd obviously dislodged a wire. I know my bike! A quick fumble and everything came back to life. I'll have to get the soldering iron out at the weekend too now.
Not good news, listen haven't given the kids their pocket money this week, so I'll take it off ya hands for £20
