Getting My Ducati This Weekend!

  1. Nice bike! Enjoy and take it steady - especially in current damp, greasy conditions. I'd recommend continuing rider instruction after you've passed your test. It'll really help gain confidence and make you a smoother safer rider.

  2. I didn't have termi's, and others on this forum will know much better than me, but I don't think they would effect the grumble because I think that was more induction than exhaust. Termi's will be louder so may compete with the grumble but that's all got to be good, right? Any takers from the Ducati cognoscenti?

  3. Congratulations!

I have a 696+ and was my first big bike, totally in love and best decision I made!
Very different to any other bike I have ridden so take your time in getting to know its qwerks.

Got the Termi carbons on, totally changed the note of sound but for me went from good to bloody gorgeous

  4. Welcome. Good choice for a first bike.

  5. Might be damn question, but I have spent few hours on-line trying to find 220.3.208.3A (drain plug washer) and 852.5.005.1A (screen filter washer) - all searches in Google give American sites. Anyone knows the best place to buy them online here?

  6. Congrats. Have a lot of fun.
Have to admit that mid Feb wouldn't be my favourite time to buy a first bike, but hey. Probably best to get to know it on dry and warmish roads. Riding in the wet and cold on a lumpy V twin takes a little getting used to.

  7. Moto rapido in Winchester

  8. I had a 696+ for a few years as a commuter, loved every minute and I'm sure you will to.
I'd contemplate the termis, quick blip of the throttle and I could get cars to move out of the way.
Get some thumpers, you'll not regret it [emoji1]

  9. "Moto Rapido in Winchester" - thanks, they were something like 20 and 30 pence each, cool! Thanks a lot for the advice. Phone order works ok, but they should setup on-line shop, it would be so much easier, no?

  10. I don't think so, he is a really nice guy to deal with and really knows his stuff. I'm much more likely to order the wrong bit on the interweb than from chatting to him. Sometimes they sell stuff on eBay but its a little cheaper if you go direct as they don't pay eBay any commission then.

Only pain is it needs to be over £10 + delivery charge + they are not open on a Sunday, so I normally end up buying a can of chain lube or something too.

  11. Found small cosmetic imperfection, looked at diagram, but couldn't find what this part is and what it does:

Can I unscrew it and re-paint it with some high-temperature resistant paint?

  12. Common problem on exposed front cylinder

  13. Welcome btw :)
