A LOT less than a New S Model.. I bought the Bike with 300 mls on the speedo last may for 13.8k from a dealer, I was in the right place at the right time with the wheels, HPS sent the BST's to Performance Bike to be tested, a year later they came back still boxed and i got them half price. The Cans and Ohlins rear shock are from an SL unused and sort of cheap .. i bought the Gilles stuff from Calsport at the show, job lot 20% discount, the Hilltop remap was free ( normally £360 but the best money you will spend on a bike).. Geoff had a Demo day and asked if he could use the bike to show people what he does and how its done. i dont do a lot of miles as ive got a GS for touring and stuff, so when i come to sell, i strip it all off and its all still as new so you get a huge chunk of your cash back to spend on your next bike lol
Stuck on a Bruudt tail tidy and a set of Oberon race pegs while I was home. I'm not really a modding person so that'll probably be it.
A few things that I have done to mine. Images first. Text below... So far I have done 425 miles. I already need a new rear light cluster because some nice stone has been flicked up by the rear tyre and hit the light cluster hard enough to badly crack it. Dratt dratt and double-dratt! (as Dick Dastardly would say.) 120 miles ago I fitted Techspec tank pads. Today I removed them and consigned them to the bin. They wouldn't stick properly, and after ONE ride both pads had cracked along the convex line caused by the shape of the tank. I had the snakeskin version on my RSV4 and loved them, but this thinner stuff has been nothing but trouble. I have fitted CNC Racing rearsets. They are a work of art and were easy to fit. I wanted to reduce the amount of throw on the gear lever and these really do the job. The lever now only has to move 20mm up or down to effect a gear change. Prior to fitting I found the gearbox 'fluffy' with very little 'feel' and I had a few poor changes. Now it is 'crisp' and 'precise' and how I like it. I have fitted Rizoma folding brake and clutch levers. Why? Mostly for the 'bling'! I don't really like the really long OEM levers that most bikes seem to come with these days. I had ASV levers on my last bike and they were about 25mm shorter. ASV don't list a fitment for the 1299 yet, so I went with Rizoma. Not cheap... I have verified that the Ventura fitting kit for an 1199 DOES NOT fit on the 1299. More cussing. the problem is the new and improved heat shield on the later bikes is a different shape and occupies some of the space required by the side rails. I bought a kit from eBay just on the off chance. Ventura stated that they haven't managed to get hold of a 1299 in order to work out how to fit to it yet. They have until mid May or else I am going to be very unhappy.
Done: Evotech lower rad guard To do: Evotech upper rad guard (buggar to fit) Speedo Angel screen protector More to come, only purchased a few weeks ago
My evotech upper is still in the cupboard where it been confined since I gave up trying to fit it without removing the fairings!!
I think the first upper radiator guards were a bit of an arse to fit and you had to pull the bike in bits. They then revised the design so they just fit without having to dismantle anything. I think the rule is if you're looking to buy these guards and some are cheaper than others it's because they're the old pain in the arse design.
Today I fitted my Speedo Angels screen protector. Matt sent me1 of each, anti glare and standard. Fitted the anti glare. Easy clear instructions, complete with cleaning cloth, dust remover and padded blade to aid fitting without air bubbles all included. No pictures because guess what........ You can't see it. Cheers Matt.
