  1. Just bought a DBPOWER DJS10 looks a great piece of kit, ideal for travel for so many reasons, just wondered if anyone has tried to acquire a 12v Hella Power connector lead to charge the DBPOWER unit on the bike while riding?

  2. Since my DBPower unit charges through a USB connection I could charge mine in the tankbag while riding, given that the tankbag has USB sockets fed from the 12v Hella power connector. Alternatively it could be charged from the USB socket under the seat.

  3. Ahh Crap, mine being a heavier duty one, needs a 15v dc 1 Amp power supply, I see the smaller capacity one like you say is charged via a USB port. did not think the 2 would be different

  4. You can buy a lithium ion battery for your Ducati which will probably weigh about the same as this charge pack.

As per specs listed in eBay ad from link supplied - Weight: 0.225 kg - lightest lithium ion batteries advertised for Ducati are nearly 3 times the weight

  6. Yeah but would that start my truck up .

  7. Lithium batteries need to be looked after, they can't be totally discharged or it changes the chemical makeup of the battery and it is scrap. A ready made Li-ion battery will have the prerequisite connectors and will handle 12v charging. 7500mah isn't much, never mind adding a fuel pump and ECU management for modern machine. 'Three times the weight' might seem dramatic but think of it as a 'Quarter pounder with chips' and you'll soon see where extra weight savings can be achieved.

  8. If you have a total loss ignition then instead of a lead/acid battery you could try a Nickel-Cadmium battery pack. This is one of the few batteries that can withstand repeated total discharge and can also be rapidly recharged. Lithium and NiMH are not suitable for this purpose but to be honest, total loss ignition has always been problematic.

  9. Having left it without adding any charge for a month, yesterday I tried the DBPower device on a Ducati. The bike's battery had got a bit low, not being charged for weeks, so the bike wouldn't start. Connected up the DBPower and the bike immediately burst into life.

As far as I am concerned, the device has demonstrated clearly that it works as claimed. I intend to carry it with me as part of the tool kit for long journeys in future.
