1198 Ceramic Coated Exhaust

  1. Results back. The Zircotec finish is superb. It has a matt 3D quality to it instead of the Camcoat flat satin finish (I ended up going for plain black instead of metallic black). Overall, I think it makes the bike look more modern and compact too. Importantly, heat is managed very well, even with the higher compression - the exhaust blows cold out the back and the header is significantly cooler.

Also had mounting points welded to the rear header and a 999R carbon heatshield correctly secured (70mm systems do not have the mounting points).

  2. Nah, prefer the blingy shine of polished cos you can see the beautiful curves of the pipes. With your black system the curviness is invisible....

    Are those wheels standard colours?

  3. Understand what you mean about hiding the curves of the pipes, but that's fine with me as I am very happy with the overall effect. The 1098R was about ultimate performance, and I think the ceramic is worth the big improvement in heat management. Custom gold to contrast the black.

  4. What did zircotec charge you spareparts?

  5. Really like that. Yeah, how much please?

    • Thanks Thanks x 2
  6. I'm confused.
Surely, if the ceramic coating is containing the heat within the pipe and there is less radiant heat from it as a result, how can the gasses from the tailpipe be cooler?

  7. I have no idea. It just is.

  8. Maybe @AirCon can explain how that can work...
The extra mass with the ceramic coating perhaps?
    Beats me...

  9. Stunning Bike! those pipes really finish the look of the bike and very classy..my pani headers are with camcoat being coated with cermakrome on the outside and black on the inside but seeing yours i wish id gone all black!

Oh my... just... wow... That looks killer! I thought I was almost done modding my bike, but there's just one more thing on my wishlist.

  11. Where it says “easy to keep clean”, exactly how easy are we talking here?

As in you can commute on it and get it wet and still leave it for a week or two and wipe it over with a damp cloth easy or is this for the more *ahem* discrerning ducati owner that has to polish their bike after rolling it out the garage?

  12. It is an addiction!

It is permanently bonded ceramic, so it is no more difficult than cleaning regular pipes. Mind you, it has yet to get dirty as I wipe it down with detailing spray and ACF50 after every ride.

  13. cheers, good to know, so more of an asthetic thing than anything

  14. No. The primary benefit of ceramic coating is heat management. It is a very noticeable difference.
