read a wee article in Bike on the possibility of VAG selling up and Fiat showing a wee bit of interest. that for me would be a step in the right direction. great company with great designs and innovations. please please please.
Why would VAG want to sell a business with a turnover of 702€ million and an operating profit of 54€ million during 2015 ? Andy
It's far more lucrative to sell a profitable business than a loss making business. Ducati have been on an upward curve for some time, but there's only so much market for a "premium product" therefore at some point the growth will slow/stop. By selling when it still looks like there's growth there will be a speculative element to the price. Wait until the market is full and the valuation will be based solely on where you are. The best time to sell is just before the curve starts to come off.
petition time? :smileys: i worked on several makes, including a non franchised German car specialist :Vomit:. out the lot fiat offered the best training and dealer back up by a country mile.if you ever had a technical problem someone was only a phone call away, if you couldn't sus it some one from technical would be up within 48hrs, superb. i have chatted to a hundred thousand people over the years about cars when you mention fiat or alfa they will say it was pish and the arse fell right out of it. but will go on to say it was the best car they have ever driven and became strangely attached to it. they have come along way since the 80s and 90s, incredibly reliable without loosing that driving experience only the Italians can offer how cool would it be to see Ducati back in the hands of a company like that?
That probably means it is. In theory I like the marriage of Italian design and German engineering. I do feel that Ducati are going for all out growth and moving away from their sports heritage. The marriage of Italian + Italian. You'd probably get something fabulous looking but highly temperamental. Which is incredibly alluring but difficult to live with.
I wish. That's exactly what makes a proper Ducati. Better than riding something with all the looks and charm of a washing machine IMHO.
and this would be good ho i could live with a duke ped as long as it was at least a 600 v twin... be a good pub bike...
After the last X-ray of my back and neck I'm wondering if Ducati will start putting v twins in wheel chairs. I think I'm going to need one. I got rear ended again!!! In the car a week ago. Bloody London traffic. That's why I don't ride my bike in London. Back ache, neck ache. It's a bloody ball ache. Crunchy neck movement. A V twin wheelchair in red. Now that's what I call a mobility scooter.
