Hi I was wondering if anyone has got any recommendations for luggage for a 1299? I was going to get a The Kreiga us20 but currently there is no fitting kit for the 1299
No it won't. The seat unit has changed. The two rear mounting points are no longer there and the pillion seat is made out of cheese on the new bikes, so it is not strong enough to secure a bag. Ventura luggage is currently out of the question too; the heat shield on the new bikes has changed, rendering the 1199/899 fitting kit unusable. No news from Ventura regarding a kit for the new bikes yet.
Spent a week in Germany last year with a Kriega us30 on the back of a 1299. Nice size for a week if you don't over do it. Room enough on the bike as well.....just. Don't understand why people are saying the Kriega gear won't fit on the 1299. If you look under the seat there are two metal half rings that the grab strap fits to. Use those as anchor points for the front straps and just loop under the back of the seat with the rear strap. Bag was going nowhere. Would never use just the seat though!
Thanks, the debate was whether the fitting kit for the 1199 would fit the 1299 but is doesn't. But it sounds like you don't need it? So you use the grab rail straps for the front and then secure under the seat for the rear. Might be a daft question but you,use the rear seat not the cowl?
Have ventureshield on so no scratching and had the rear seat on. Keeps clear of the panels when tightened up anyway. Occasionally had to shuffle the bag back with me bum a little while on the move but that was to force a bit more space when getting me chin on the tank on the autobahns . Got pics from q distance but no idea how to put them on
