848 Oh 848

  1. Picked up my new to me 848 Evo SE today, new tyres and pissing rain on a blustery bad day for biking. Just come back from a second blast. I couldn't resist. I daren't take any pictures. I'd be drummed out of the Ducati club for bike abuse. I already have a deeply loved SF848 and the Evo has not let me down. Solid as a rock and light and lovely all at the same time. Even in the mud and rain I am very pleased with my purchase. Weather be damned. I shall further acquaint myself in the morning.

  2. Nice!! Great bike

  3. Yep, my collection of my 848 was in similar circumstances, wondered if I'd make it back unscathed... luckily I did.

Only difference I guess is this is my first bike, so no SF or other bike to reference it to. So far it's been fantastic, great sound, and a smooth ride... smoother than my cars even. Hope you're enjoing it as much as I am.

  4. 848Evo is a bloody good bike. Never had an issue, not one loose nut.
    You will love it.

  5. Flippin' snow, then rain, and salted roads, the bike gods are conspiring against me today. I have given the new one a good clean and she is now tucked away with the family.

  6. Is that dirty? Don't think so. I put a little polish on mine and pushed it out of the garage for a picture today:

  8. Did you paint this using watercolours? Either that or you have the world's worst digital camera! :tearsofjoy:

  9. As my camera took it. Now that you have mentioned it I also have a picture that the wife took with her much better camera and this is how that came out:

  10. Ah, that's better! Great looking bike :upyeah:

  11. Its a lovely bike. I miss mine. I saw it yesterday still sat in the motorcycle dealer who bought it off me last July.....

  12. I have read a lot of previous 848 owners saying they miss it.

  13. I miss mine in some ways, it felt like a much gruntier engine than it had the rights to be compared to the 899! I actually got on the 1199 and thought it felt a bit lacking in bottom end compared to the 848 Evo tbf, just that it had a mental top end!

  14. I bought mine last year. The nearest thing to a sports bike that I had ever owned before was a new BMW R1100S, I have owned BMWs all of my life.
My first Ducati, an ST2 came along and I loved it, so different. I then saw an 848 in a dealer here in France and thought that it is the most beautiful bike that I have ever seen. I promptly went out and bought the red one in the pictures above, it is a 2010 and I bought it off a French copper with not many miles on it.
My wife's BMW F800ST had a battery problem and so she used the ST2 for a ride out, the F800 is now up for sale and she wants a red ST3.
The 848 has more than enough power for what I need around here, but is just so satisfying to ride. I dare not let the wife have a go on it though.

  15. I know this is an old thread, but how did no one spot the missing bar end on this pic?

  16. Never came with bar ends, so nothing is missing.

  17. Fair enough. Pretty sure all sports bikes bikes come with bar ends stoppers as standard (my 848 did).

I've got a spare set of factory ones you can have for free (one has a few marks where I couldn't get it off, the other is mint), no worries if you're not interested.

  18. Thanks, but last week I fitted some that I bought from ebay China. The did not fit inside the bars, but after a bit of garage work I got them on.
