  5. Did you ride with the standard wheels at first and did you notice a big difference with the BST's?

  6. Not on my 1299 no but the wheels came over from my previous 1098S and I felt an immediate improvement on that, particularly on the front and the wheels on the 1098S were lightweight forged Marchesini's whereas the wheels on the base 1299 are cast so the weight saving improvement should be even more beneficial. They're a high ticket item that nobody NEEDS ! but they do work even on the road.....and they are lovely.

  7. DP bits look great. I especially like the fuel cap and levers. Oh and the rearsets etc...

  8. I'm not the best at taking pictures but i'm made up with the rearset's... look great in the flesh

  9. Did you ride the bike with the standard rearsets, did you notice any improvement? I'm looking at rearsets but not sure I can justify the cost. Even spending £500 on Lightech ones seems a tad excessive

Oh - and have you considered having a K-Tech or Maxton re-work on your forks as opposed to having the Ohlins FGRT's? Or are you after the bling factor? It's just that re-working your standard forks would probably give you the same performance - if not better - than the FGRT's anyway. Don't get me wrong though, at the right price I'd have the Ohlins too...

  10. Yes iv'e rode the bike with the standard rearset's from new and have only just put the seat, rearsets, levers and fuel cap on over the last week and then literally rode from work under 2 miles home. Instantly obviously noticed i was sitting higher and feet a little further back with super grippy pegs. They are alot of money but i'm trying to keep all the smaller upgrades genuine ducati... even the evo tech tail tidy annoys me and if a DP one comes up at the right price id swop it.... OCD kicking in.

Yes K-tech is an option and not ruling anything out. i'll just take each upgrade at a time and see what best suits me at the time. Currently waiting on prices from my nearest suspension dealer etc and then go from there.

Out of the bigger upgrades i suspect i'll probably go rear shock or wheels and then look at the front as i don't think it's bad standard tbh

  11. You are correct with that order, rear shock is a must what ever route you go down anything is better than standard, then wheels and as you said the forks are pretty good standard,i have yet to use my bike with the Ohlins forks fitted so i cannot comment to much.My 899 has Lightech rear sets and they are great, after riding my 1199 for the first time this week i cannot believe how poor the standard pegs are,the position of the standard rear sets are comfortable is just them stupid pegs, slippy as feck.

  12. I have to say I am an advocate for the MCT rebuild for the standard shock, it cost me £200 and it's totally changed the bike!!! It's very nearly as good as the Ohlins TTX that was on my triumph (albeit that's probably a step down from an aftermarket Ohlins)

This is on roar riding... It will get overwhelmed MUCH quicker on track than a pukka Ohlins but for road riding jn really happy with the difference that it made for £200

  13. Do the lightech rearsets move the page lower at all?

I wouldn't mind a bit more leg room for the road though the 959 seems to have more room than the 899.

I see the Gilles VCR are able to go lower according to the diagrams on their website but I don't like the look of them.

  14. So I decided to just buy a set of decent rearsets and be done with it. I couldn't quite stretch to the DP ones, but I got an awesome deal from @Conquest Carbon on a set of Ducabike's instead. Can't wait to get them fitted :upyeah:

  15. awsome! You've probably already seen them but @Joe P has the same rearsets on his 899

  16. Yeah, I've just been reading his thoughts on them. Mine are the all black version and should look pretty neat. I'm interested to see how much adjustment I've got and whether I'll want to move things about from the standard position. I personally find the 899 quite roomy, so if anything I might bring them up a little. How have you got your DP rearsets setup?

  17. I'm ok with the Ducabikes now. There is a lot of float on the gear leaver pivot but they seem to work fine. Pegs are nice and grippy and bike feels more roomy. Very short throw on the gearshift now.....they look very nice, even better all black I would say....

  18. I have to say I think the brakes are the highest priority to fix on the 899......then the foot pegs......then the rear shock.....

  19. Tbh the only problem i have with the brakes is the initial leaver feel,i have never felt them lacking and they worked fine in a couple of stupid late braking moments, now i have a 1199 i agree the m50 calipers are a step up and i contacted Brembo about swapping to m50 on my 899 but they say they are not compatible with the 899 abs system, junk the abs and they will be fine, now i have no idea why but after a lot of research i think it is to do with the volume of brake fluid in the calipers.

  20. I would say the rear shock is the most important fix on the 889, as others have said the initial bite is week on the 899 but I would say they have loads of power.

The rear shock for road riding will be fine with a MCT rebuild, mine is lovely now. For track work definitely go Nitron/Ohlins/ktech.
