Evenin' all. I'm looking to buy a Pragmasis anti-pinch pin for a 1299S and not sure if I need the slightly smaller diameter one listed for the 899 or if the standard one is fine. Anyone have any ideas? I sent an email to them but they're in the midst of moving premises so haven't had a response yet. Thanks for any help.
Thanks El Toro and apologies, I looked for a security forum but guessed it would be a bad idea to have a place dedicated to security making it easier for the bad guys out there.
You want the full diameter version in 340mm length. This will allow you a chain link on the pin on both sides of the wheel or just on the padlocked side with a bit of spare length if you lock from one side only i.e. to a wall anchor.
By the way, that's assuming you're using a 16mm chain. If you go up to the 19mm chain (unnecessary in my opinion) you may need a little longer pin length if you want a chain link on both sides of the wheel.
Many thanks steeley, I'm going to go with the 19mm as the price difference is only £8 above the 16mm in 1.0m form so bit of a no brainer! I'll go with a longer pin to accommodate. Cheers...
keep in mind that the 19mm is very unwieldy and doesn't loop as tightly as the 16mm due to the link size. If you want to loop over/under/through a wheel you may need longer than 1.0 metre cos it doesn't seem to go very far. If you're securing from one side it may be OK depending on your arrangement.
The 16mm chain is a nightmare to get through between the front wheel and disk, should you ever decide to lock that, so that may be a factor to consider. I lock both ends to a Torq Anchor using a 16mm chain each end and Anti-Pinch Pin at the rear. I use a 1.5m Protector chain which has enough length to do front or rear through the Torq Anchor, with a link either side of the Anti-Pinch Pin. I bought a 'Panigale' specific Pin, before realising it's for the 899...as said above, the standard Pin is fine for a 1199/1299.
