New Panigale 959 Owner

  1. Hi Folks,

I have just ordered myself a new 959, was considering the 899, but got such a good deal on the new model against any 899 with really low mileage, i decided opt for the 959. Now I know there is a lot of controversy around the pipes on the 959, but to be honest I'm not that hung up on them. I have an S1000RR and on most bikes the pipes are out there, so no biggy for me.

I do like the aftermarket Akcra slip on, but will wait to see how the market evolves as I know Austin Racing are bringing something out and I'm sure others will to. All that aside I'm looking forward to getting out on my new Duke in a few weeks.

I have a question that hopefully someone can advise, as I haven't managed to establish an answer to, does the 959 have an anti wheelie, like the s1000RR did. I know this may sound like a bit of a pussy question, but i like all two wheels on the ground for the time being. You could ring the neck of the S1000RR and front wheel wouldn't lift.,

  2. The weight of the pipes should do it :)

  4. Welcome in, no the 959 doesn't unfortunately but shouldn't be a wheelie monster, they are beautifully balanced bikes

  6. I've still the standard pipes, like you, I'm holding on to see what the market brings. The Akra are much nicer looking, but let's see what comes along.
It's a really great bike to ride. Congrats and enjoy.
PS, havnt got the wheel up, I'm a pussy.

  7. Unsure what settings the s1000's I've ridden were on but I had the front wheel pointing towards orbit when I hammered it. Great fun.

You'll struggle to loop a 959 in sport mode. It's more likely to wheelie in race mode but I wouldn't imagine it causing you an issue.. just drag the rear if the front comes up.

  8. You must have had the track dongle upgrade on the S1000 @Advikaz, I managed to get the front up in the air going over rises in the road but otherwise it stuck to the ground big time.

I'm sure the 959 will not want to wheelie like the big bikes do, you'd need to be trying very hard to do it. Congratulations on the new bike. I'm really looking forward to seeing the 959 in action as it looks like it's going to be a really good bike.

  9. I honestly wouldn't know mate. I didn't really pay an awful lot of attention to the dash or its settings. Or how to work it to be honest lol.

I still don't know how to change the sub settings on the panigale's either ha ha. Just chuck it in race and leave it at that..

  10. What colour did you order?

  11. Haha yeah must admit I did the same for the first six months or so on the Panigale. It was only when I started needing to adjust for the track that I started to learn my way around.

  12. Congrats on the purchase! :upyeah:

  13. Thanks for all the responses folks, very much appreciated ad the feedback on the wheelie or in the case of the 959 not. I have opted for it in Red as its a Ducati and IMO there is only one colour :grinning::grinning::grinning:
