  9. Got a nice surprise package. When the 999 was dropped off a fairing bit on the nose in the little gap on the side was missing, "darn, i forgot it, i'll post it to you" said the guy. Now, as he was moving to NZ to work for the foreseeable future the next day i doubted it would happen. Not only did it arrive today but also the original heel plates, can covers, exhaust cover, clutch cover, new spare gear (or brake, not sure which yet) lever and a pair of passenger foot rests!

I've also really been enjoying filling up the 999 section with questions, there is many more to come.........

  10. Excellent ! Reminds me of whistler a bit, a few years back. One could be on a lovely back mountain run mid season and be the only one for miles!

That looks nice, wide sweeping carved high speed turns on a black- get your elbow down?

  11. Sounds like an honest person, good to know there still out there,

  12. Shame there emigrating....

  13. Nice one. Happiness is a box of spare 999 bits - true story.

Can you ask the guy to track down my old boiler engineer? He disappeared off to NZ with the manual to my boiler and it has been impossible to track down another one. I had no idea it was a collector's item.

  14. Unlucky Merv, there's tw*ts everywhere, even on here, but keep the faith someone good will turn up who really deserves that bike! ( wish I could afford it / had the room ).

    Hope you're well!

On another issue, anyone know anything about the 'Power Jet Fuel Commander' (
    PROCOM POWERJET FUEL CONTROLLER)
NOT a 'Power Commander' but something similar, and a lot cheaper, from M&P on ebay. Looks like it does a similar job to a power commander. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of it??

    :) :)

  15. I got the monster back from it's 600 mile service at just after 5pm so I went out on it and enjoyed the last hour of daylight. My shoulder wasn't too bad so that's prospecting. :)

  16. We followed a small group down but they were quite away down it already. It was superb. This week is fantastic, the snow is down to the valley floor and is one of the best in the thirty years I have skied, but my goodness, it is cold, I am wearing a whole flock of merino sheep ( long johns, base layer top and a padded jacket that is merino and down) as well as polo neck and technical top under my jacket and I am just warm enough. I had to cough up resort prices for a new pair of gloves because mine weren't up to it. But it is worth it just to be able to ski without having to stop in a cafe to warm up.

  17. Had a phone call from Bernard, the garagiste.
My 999 is almost ready. He's given it a full service, fixed the valves, found some electronic captor thing that was fucking up. Changing battery as it doesn't keep a charge (dammit. It wasn't that old. Bet all the tricky starting buggered it) and new rear tyre as it was shagged (was it? Hadn't bargained for that. Bollox). This is looking like a big bill. Toss.
"Just give me the money for the bits", he said. "You can pay the labour as and when". Well, that's nice of him. But I think I'm going to need to find a bit more work. He has also instructed me to send him my battery charger. Apparently, this may determine which battery he fits and whether or not he adds a handy charging socket. Proactive sort of bloke, Bernard. If only I had known he hadn't really retired.

  18. Been at Rockingham speedway, pre-season testing.
I was not running anything just spending some time with the drivers and teams which was nice for a change.
First time I tried to use my DSLR.. should have tried shutter speed settings.

  19. Sounds like a good guy glid! I am still getting used to the JMT Lithium Ion battery I put in the ST4 but it definitely holds the charge much better than the Yuasa that was in it previously. 4/5 days and the Yuasa had to go on charge as it wouldn't turn the bike over. Yesterday I did a bit of work on the bike and it had been about 8 days since starting. One push of the button and she turned really well and started. I am a bit impressed (not that that's difficult) and have now bought a JMT for the Triumph RS as well! Atb :)

  20. Do you need a special charger for this battery Brian? at some stage this year I will be looking to replace the batteries on my bike-Lithium Ion sounds a likely replacement.
