There's a small story about this pic. My red 916 was bog standard until, shortly after having been run in, it went for a service. When he was testing it afterwards for a shake-down run, my garagiste crashed it. He offered me a new one for CHF 1000 as a replacement, or that he would make my one "better than new" with my choice of paint. I chose the latter option, as I didn't want to hand out another CHF 1000, and didn't want to run in another bike. So I ended up with a 916 in this Chili-esq paint scheme. Mine was originally No. 8, because my garagiste had cut up an 851 sticker. Then a few years later, my 916 was stolen at the Bol d'Or. By a happy coincidence, the guy who had No. 1, which was almost identical to mine, was selling it. It had quite a few less kilometres on it than mine, but the insurance money covered the cost entirely. So I ended up with No 1, which is what you see in this picture. The only thing I lost out on was that I had just fitted cast iron discs on No. 8, which No. 1 didn't have. Can't remember if I fitted more, but I don't think I did. I don't know who had No. 5, but I think my garagiste put that on his track bike.
Not my best photo. It was a hazy evening in April '11. It's my Benelli Tre-K with Ben Loyal in the background.
OK, I can't resist. I'm going to be a picture whore too. :Shamefullyembarrased: By far the most pleasing part of this picture is, even though I was out scaring sheep in Nothumberland, It looks like I managed to get the obligatory wheelie bin into the picture. Result !
At tick over they even sound the same (that's coming from a 998S owner).:Hilarious::Hilarious::Hilarious::Hilarious:
My old MTS1200S (sadly no longer with us, nor my bro's leg) and my Fireblade (nearly Urban tiger). Down my the river in Tilford, just outside the pub.
My all-time favourite photo of the Tornado. The light was just right with the slightly threatening clouds...
At MOT a couple of years ago with one of my cars, I like the early '90s vibe! Playing in the marshes just before Christmas (sadly the last time it left the garage). Sadly, it's dawned on me that I've never ridden this bike in the sunshine, hence all the scenic photos have more subdued light that doesn't bring out the Ducati red....maybe this year if this thread stays alive!
