I use these people Ducati Insurance - the official UK Ducati Insurance Scheme I have 3 bikes on the same policy, 848 Evo, 848 Streetfighter and panigale 1199s I pay £700 fully comp 8yrs NCD
Have you tried Ducati Insurance? Explain your predicament and the implications of not obtaining an agreeable quote. They insisted on a tracker ( which I was going to fit anyway) but came in the lowest for me. I appreciate they are not competitive for everybody, no single insurer is, but worth a try. Good luck, let us know how you get on, I would be genuinely gutted to loose out on a bike due to insurance costs ( but genuinely elated when I realised I nearly bought a 959..)
I need to ring bennetts actually as I can maybe get a better deal in the phone. 899 was a damn sight cheaper than 959 also. Bloody ridiculous really. If I can't get a decent insurance quote tomorrow I'm going to have to think about pulling the plug on this bike as the quotes I'm getting are crazy expensive.
Yeah I tried Ducati insurance online but the website said to ring up for best quote. Problem is my NCB has lapsed as I haven't had a bike for a couple of years so basically starting from scratch again. I think they may end up being the most competitive. I hope so anyway As you say I will have to press how much this will effect my decision to buy this bike. Absolutely gutted as it is coming earlier than expected and I had my heart set on it. Only other thing I can think of is I have a specialist Motorsport policy for my other car, which I may be able to get a quote from for the bike as they are a performance / prestige specialist
strange in all the years I have had bikes and that's 35 years I have never used Carol Nash they are always the dearest
I'm also with MCE, they do a good quote, however you have to watch the excess, as it can be far in excess of other companies, living inside the M25 doesn't help with insurance a mate who lives in Nottingham has same bike as me, plus modification and it's £200 cheaper :grimacing:
I got quotes of £9600, £10,000 and £10,500 for my Panigale R last May. 44 YO, full licence for years, only 1 year NCD though and a ban for speeding 4 years ago but in a rural, low risk area of Aberdeenshire. I was £850 per year for my Speed Triple R at the time. Ducati Insurance offered me £1350 for the Panigale R and an additional £300 for the Speed Triple R. Needless to say, they got my business. I had to fit a tracker to the Panigale, but that's no hardship.
how much was the tracker to fit?? looking at the website these are the same company as ducati insurance. i had sky insurance on my cars a few times and were cheapest will try them later getting quotes for sports 600s, triumph triples and things like bmw r nine t for £400 so not prepared to pay £2k to insure a 959. im sure next year they will be cheaper so prepared to bite the bullet for one year to some extent but not that much
In 2014 I bought a new 1199 because it was cheaper by loads than a 899 to insure. Now it's about the same for either.
got an online quote for a 899 for £800 LESS than the 959 from the same company. This is bloody mental...
I guess with the 899 they have 'stats' on likelihood to get stolen etc where as when a new model comes out they just go with a really risk adverse stance and try to claw back premium from the insured person. I guess for all they know the front suspension could be filled with liquid gold and all of a sudden EVERYONE will be trying to steal them? It's literally all I can assume given that even the rrp is similar to the 899 and it's a replacement model. Wonder if the price would have stayed the same if it would have been called an '899 Evo' rather than 959 ;/)
I just checked, my renewal is up in April. I'm getting 959 quotes of around £500. No commuting or pillion. The 848Evo was around £300. I was told to ring closer the time about a multi bike policy as I've a GS to insure. The most expensive for the 959 was £9000. Mental. I've money set aside for the insurance, but not that much.
