Hi all , I got a bit of bad news today , I bought a cat c damaged 2008 1100s few months ago and got it all sorted I thought !!! But I dropped it in to pro twins last week before my holiday and they immediately pointed out the frame was kinked at the headstock so I dropped it off at motaliner to see if the could straighten but they gave me the bad news today , no joy , so I've got 2 choices break or buy new frame
Hi Simon , well it's in bits at present but I've got a second hand frame coming from US , got to get it and check it's straight first before attempting another rebuild . we're you intrested in anything from it if I did break Cheers Mike
Ok Simon I will keep you informed , I was hoping someone might have wanted engine as that's the biggest part and where most of my money would be but I'll see how frame is ...
I'm not sure what other bikes will fit the wheels , it would only be a guess but I was told there was another model when I was looking for front one
I'd like to get £4200 for the lot , so what would be a fair price for engine , it's only got 4000 miles on it
Not being funny but there's one on ebay for £4750 ono and that's not got a bent frame! Ducati Hypermotard 1100S 57 Reg Full Termignoni, Supermoto motorcycle | eBay
Yeah that's cheap but double the miles and a year older , but same spec as mine , I know £4200 sounds expensive but the exhaust system is worth 900 wheels with brand new tyre 1000 forks 800 plastics 700 then engine , clocks tank seat its way past £4200 in parts and like I say I've nearly got a frame so I'll see , I really want to keep it as it looks gorgeous and sounds the part too , it's just that it's starting to cost more than it's worth judging by eBay , but if I do keep it at least I know how to fix it , been apart twice now lol
There's your answer then - either break it and sell all the parts, or keep it and fix it. I honestly don't think you'll get anywhere near £4k for it as-is, more like £3k tops.
I totally see where youre coming from - I'm having the same predicament with my supermoto ive built.....cost an arm and a leg to build but may be worth more in pieces than taking a lower price in whole....ironically ill be selling mine to get another hyper 1100 although this time think ill be going evo sp...well, id like to think so....
Yep it's a dilemma alright , it's not always about the money but there has to be a point when you pull back and have a good think about how much your sinking into a project , I haven't even risen it yet just started it an drooled , but Evo sp , sexy
yeah ive had an 1100s then an evo - sp seems to be the logical way forward....well it is in my head anyway...having said that id have my original 1100s back although ive not seen it come up anywhere.... I did get that problem with the supermoto....but I got to a point and thought "well, ive come this far...may as well finish"
If you've got the skills to replace the frame then get it sorted as it'll be worth way more to you that way.
