1199 Superleggera Modifications

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Hollywoodstig, Mar 14, 2016.

  1. Having safely got her through the running in service i'm ready to undertake a few subtle mods.

Has anybody done anything they'd recommend?

Was thinking of track fairings (for the track...) a remap and an auto-blipper.

Feel free to chime in with any bright ideas & I'll post pics of anything I go with.

  3. why do you need a remap? not enough power for you ??

  4. 1st rule of Superleg club - don't talk about power :)

  5. Hold on, lets sort the serious issue of jimmys washing powder first & foremost. This maybe a thread high-jack but he needs help now!!!

  6. Autoblipper is definitely something I'd put on, nothing better than the pop and bang of a blipper and it helps a lot with your riding.

  7. how you liking the bmw ROYAL different class to your panni I bet ,

  8. Just different really, the Panigale has much better finish and sex appeal but I like the sensible German engineering. I reckon I might end up faster on the BMW on some of the tighter tracks as it's a bit smaller and I can chuck it around more but oddly enough the Pani is more comfortable for long distance riding as it's more stable. The BMW is much better for slow commuter riding as it's super smooth. At the moment I'd probably still choose the Panigale if I could only have one but maybe that will change once I've got the BMW on track. Will let you know :)

  9. The first mod I'd make after securing a SL would be to put a big Perspex box over it. In the living room of course :grinning:

  10. What an odd thing to write.

I do ride it, and enjoy it - just fancy a few extras. It certainly won't be the only one out there that's no longer standard.

Appreciate your input though, and I recommend Daz.

Why does everyone assume these are only ridden to Starbucks or put in a glass case? Last time I checked it's still a motorbike like a GSX-R, CBR, ZX etc etc.

  11. I agree. Just ignore Jimmy! Although I'll be honest, it's pretty much got it all on there! Even has the nicer grips! Maybe a suspension set up specific to you? Fairings are stupid money! Was a side fairing on eBay for £1300 the other week!!!

  12. Everyone entitled to their opinion, no harm done.

I want to track it but would rather not risk the OEM panels, will speak to MR and see what they can do.

It's great but just want to make it mine with a few tweaks. And yes it's more than fast enough, just a bit wooly low down and a remap might help iron it out. Never had a bike custom mapped before so don't know how much better it can be.

  13. Before deciding, my advice would be to research what is actually available and at what cost. The Superleggera is an outstanding motorcycle out of the box although I do know a forum member who lives in the UAE added some very trick bits to his including WSB spec forks. Good luck with whatever you choose to do and remember to post pictures. Andy

  14. Yes I saw Carl's bike, and some of the videos he's kindly made available - taken it to the n'th degree though and in looking to blow another £60-80k on it. Suspension set up rather than change is probably a good idea, it is a smidge soft but that's as I'm 15st.

  15. Don't worry that's just Jimmy43 the Troll, he can't resist :)

  16. Well Wilf at MR is the man when it comes to re maps. And possibly bodywork too. Speak to Martin at Ducati Glasgow re bodywork. He's running a SL and he's got a gorgeous carbon fibre body kit on it. Not cheap but stunning. And you'll be able to bubble wrap all yours and stick it in the loft.

  17. A SL has value because it is a rare numbered limited edition. If you want to mod an 'SL' for performance, buy a 2015/16 Pani R, and mod that. All the performance you will be looking for, but you also get to preserve the value of the SL as the collector's bike that it is. The SL will retain value if it stays original.

  18. so a troll is someone with an opinion who doesn't follow like a sheep :grinning:

  19. I must admit I'm the world's worst for fiddling with my bikes but the SL is one I would personally leave standard, use the money for a decent set of track Dunlop's and book a holiday to almeria race track, there ya first grand spent.
