Good plan but I don't have the wedge (nor inclination) to drop £28k on an 'R' and another £10k+ just to bring it up to SL level as I already have one. An auto blipper adds something as does a remap (usability) and fairings preserve the value in the original ones. I'll speak to Wilf and see what he can do - pics will follow. Thanks for the input chaps.
Agreed, I would ride it, and maybe even do the remap for smoother power (assuming it isn't already amazing) but I would still stay away from the track. I know it kinda defeats the point but there is expensive and then there is E-X-Pensive!
Lastly I didn't for a minute buy the SL to look at or use sparingly, it'll depreciate horribly so I might as well use it )
It doesn't cost £10k to bring a new Pani R up to the level of an SL. You are misguided if you think the SL is that superior - especially when the objective of your mods are performance related.
After buying the S1000RR recently I'll never take the p*ss out of heated grips again! They're amazing!!
Feel free to enlighten me, what would you do to an 'R' as a pal of mine collects his next week and that's exactly what he wants to do - go SL hunting!
no one on here can out ride a panni r , so why do you need more, on any bike, I bet chaz davis could qualify a std R on the wsb grid
Woah woah woah (English for stop a horse). Hang on Jimmy I thought you went for the beemer as the Pani was holding you back?!
Strikes me as a bit of jealousy on this thread, if the guy has bought a superlegerra fair play to him! I know of people who have spent £22k on an 899 and that's fine too! Get over yourselves!
Thanks Phil all I was after were a few suggestions on what others would do - not an debate on how fast the standard bike is.
lets see that quote print it my good man ,nevere said panni holding me back have said 1299 rides like a bag of shite, had the 1199 for 18 months broke 10 times, now on a bm again , may be on something else in 2 months who knows why ? because I can
well to me seems a bit pointless as there probably only 3 people on here got S/L but hope you enjoy yours and it suits your purpose , my opinion is leave it standard as some times putting parts on can spoil a bike not make it better , congrats on your purchase,
Umm I was only joking and no I can't outride an R, unless it's being ridden by my nan. I can out dance disco queens though. 10 times! What in little lord baby Jesus' name broke?
quick shifters x2 , trapped hoses under tank x 2, disconnected hoses, mirrors x2 , clocks, x2 , fuel something?? ,suspension locking up at front, apart from that it was mint lol, tbh it was a love/hate bike I think a lot depended on the mood you were in and also the roads you used, as for looks defo the best looking bike out there and I wish I liked the 1299 when I rode it but it was horrendous hence back to bm, appologies for sounding like a twat with a sore head been one of them days :tonguewink:
Bummer.....Friday afternoon bike by the sounds of it. Though BM actually have a worse record for reliability with the S1000RR. None of us are going to ride any of the latest crop of super bikes to their limits so just buy the one that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Which is why I'm getting another Pani even though the RSV4 is a supposedly a better performing machine.
had a few probs with s1000rr had 5 of them now, same as people I know with zx 10, rsv all the same really reliability wise,
