What should happen typically if one orders a bike that needs to be built? Previous 2 Ducati’s were new on sales floor, I have put down a deposit min. 500 on a standard Xdiavel. Been told March build delivery for April. Should my dealer know or tell me anymore? Will they know when its roughly on way etc?
As time progresses, your salesman will be able to see on their computer system when the build is complete and a shipping date. Sadly dates are not always hard and fast and delays whilst few are not uncommon. Any salesman worth his commission will keep you appraised as and when information becomes available. Andy
no doubt he'll keep you informed on it's progress I have a Triumph Thruxton 'R' on order was told the first batch into the country sometime in the summer since then had an email and call from my dealer telling me it's due in July and bikes to test ride next month.
Exact words were some time in April, along with build in March. Im not but think in the Italian factory as seen peeps that been there say Diavel, production line has switched over to xdiavel at moment.
Don't understand your reply? Does what matter? I was just interested where they were made as I thought all triumphs were made in the UK?
sorry didn't mean to come across like that, Triumph have 3 factory's in Chonburi Thailand that produce the motorcycle parts I believe most of the bike is built there it's then shipped to Hinkley, England and assembled there to completion.
Ducati should be better than Honda you'd hope - I ordered a new Africa twin this year, and literally got a call one day to say it'd arrived at the dealer and did I want to delay registration until March 1st or pick it up the next day I didn't get any info on build times or anything Conversely, when I ordered my current Audi, I was in a constant email loop with the dealer on progress, and one the car had hit the production line, I could go online and check progress and location of car between factory and dealership
The dealer should know when the bike leaves the factory. Or at least when their consignment of that model is signed off for despatch at the factory. Probably take a week from there to arrive at the dealership. At that point the dealer might contact you with a list of registration numbers for you to choose from. Then when the dealer receives his consignment of bikes those that are ordered and paid for need prepping ready for the customer. So from completion at the factory to ready for delivery at the dealership could reasonably take a couple of weeks so realistically that's probably as much notice as you can expect. At least that's how it works with KTM. I imagine most manufacturers/dealers will be pretty similar.
Dealer Riders can now get one from another stor duplicate order or something. So be able to have early April I expect. Typically one would expect 3-4 miles on new bike as they do test them?
Never bought a new Ducati but just bought a new kTM and that was only zero miles when I got it. Whether they flash the odo back to zero after a test I don't know.
Well dealer got one sooner soo woohoo!! was worried it a look a bit bland compared to S version but I love it the back wheel is better with it being spokes central to rim.
I notice theres no 939 hypermotards in there yet....not as of last week anyway....I was just curious to take a look...my mate is threatening to order one (an xdiavel) but apparently the footpeg kit isn't available yet so he wont test ride one til they've got that available...
Do you mean DP kit for mid controls on xdiavel? expect it be pricy to, I would try as is, I found it good once got used to lifting feet up, going to ask dealer to move them back a notch closer to me to be perfect then. Atleast there is some adjustment in it.
That, I don't know - he just said "the footpeg kit" so I don't know any more than that....the diavel range is not my cup of tea so Ive not really looked at them...
