Hi Guys Good track for my 2nd go? Probably my closest "track" so I hope all positive. Hoping the 999 may be a goer by then.......
Although on further investigation its a fair bit further than I thought and Silverstone is closer, but the question remains.
What was your noise test at Brands ? 101db static/82db drive by is pretty strict. Like all ex airfields the track will be flat and featureless although the layout of both the West and South tracks look to have some challenge. Only way to find out is to DO IT. Andy
I like Bedford - it is flat, but plenty of run-off, some nice flowing sections and a monster back straight. Organisation is generally good and the track is well marshalled. Go for it !
No idea, the GSXR has a standard OEM can, the tester looked at it and I could tell he knew the test was pointless as I wouldn't break the noise barriers. 999 may be a different story.
Precious little difference to be honest. Whatever date suits best. I might book one of those too. My 999 has always passed the noise test, with Termis. I take baffles just in case but it's usually 101 or thereabouts
I'm guessing your day at Brands was through MSV ? If you were happy with what they did, I'd say stick with them. No Limits does have a reputation for living up to it's name so I would not advise them for a beginner. Andy
At Bedford all the corners are flat, the track is wide, no blind corners, and loads of run off everywhere. Ideal for a trackday beginner - even if you balls up a corner completely you are most unlikely to come a cropper. Experienced track riders might not find it very interesting or challenging.
No limts do have limits, and make for an enjoyable well run day. Novice group fine with them, i even let my son at 16 go out with the novice group on his mito 125
Done it in a caterham and it was a brilliant track for a car day. Very wide, so wide you don't really even need the run off. Initially I did find it hard to learn as it is so featureless.
Cream R have you done your track day at brands already? obviously went ok then?... I did not stumble across that thread.
Yes mate. All good. Biggest issue was getting my head round a 600 IL4 after the 996. Once I got her singing all was good. Embarrassed lots of newer, more expensive and faster bikes.
Well the bike is still in one peice that's a good thing. What was the gearing like, one down on the front, 2 up rear? I could not imagine riding my 998 fast, maybe when I get the suspension sorted it will feel more reassuring. I'd be much happier on an inline 4. To finish 1st, first you have to finish...
Yes, main plan was to not crash or blow her up. Dropped one tooth on the front, guess it helps but really miss the 996 torque out of corners.
