The BMW faired really well I thought against F1 car The gap between them wasn't that bad Think I might get me one :-D
I'm still unsure if that bike was actually to wsbk spec.. Looking at the dash it had the standard s1000 dash on it. Looked like a stocker to me. Might be wrong ofcourse but I've never seen a superbike running the standard dash and not a proper logger
It was the same bike he raced in Ireland 6 months ago that he crashed damaging his spine. They did say during the programme that this was the first time he'd been back on the bike. Fair play to him. Andy
They say things like that all the time though doesn't mean it's THE bike. Pretty sure that high side would of written that bike off ? Not saying you're wrong but ive never seen a proper superbike running standard dials before.
not watched the program yet got it recorded saw guy martin on Wednesday at maplins lol have met kevin Clifton from Grimsby you say ...........
I know its TV and it's all set for drama etc, but it'd have been a much fairer comparison if it'd had been a moto GP bike rather than a poshed up road bike. If you assume Guy's bike is not too much slower than a BSB bike, then that's a good 6 or 7 seconds a lap slower around silverstone than the Motogp bikes do it in. Plus, he seemed to be running road tyres, and when he did the slalom, he was running full wets ! I understand guy doesn't have the best relationship with any of the MotoGP teams though
Not sure what the rules governing road racing are but for sure different to BSB and WSB. If I am wrong it won't be the first time nor will it be the last . Andy
If its his pucker RR bike it will be 230hp Guy would be several seconds off a lap of Silverstone than the top 5 BSB riders even if he had a MGP bike It was a channel 4 F1 promo cynically using the biking TV darlimng Guy Martin Although the commentary at times (150kg of foot pressure like pushing away 2 fully grown men..what bollox!) very annoying the prog was light hearted and funny in places Couple of weeks ago I was considering chopping my multi and getting a HP4...
I agree, the whole challenge was a little one sided - however it was just great to see Guy ripping the arse out of that bike on bore stream TV no?
They put it at 220 brake and 250 grand. I assume they were including the development costs. Those motorad motors aren't cheap around 18k or something silly from memory.
Watched it last night, and thought the bike did well against F1 car, although never expected bike would win. But regardless of the outcome it was a good programme, 'cos to me there's not much worth watching nowadays...............well apart from this weekends essential viewing- MotoGP from Qatar
Much as I like Guy Martin I don't think urbane or sophisticated is a particularly accurate description.
Depends on the benchmark, it could apply. 'slimy' is a word that could be used to describe the other one of the combatants( based of course, on an unscientific appreciation of perceived tv personality)
I can see where you are coming from but on balance slimy is not a word I would apply to DC. Slick maybe, and there is a fine line between slick and slimy.
I think "Smarmy" for DC The whole programme reminded me of an episode of "Black Adder" DC = Edmund Blackadder GM = Baldrick !!
