Looking to get an 848 in the next week or so, started getting some ringing kit together slowly so its not a big chunk all at once. Was considering the 899 but with the weather we get in Wales is not really worth spending that muh so Ill be happy with an 848. any common problems I should look out for when looking at 848's? any info will be much appreciated Thanks Jason
The 899 is a a whole different and better proposition in my opinion. But it's your money and your choice. Welcome anyway Dave
I bought mine last year and love it. The only issue I discovered with mine was it had the wrong map for the exhausts. All sorted through some nice people on this forum. There's even a free android app that lets you do all sorts to the bike, including resetting the service indicator and the throttle position sensor. Certainly lots of help and advice available on here if you need it. I came to Ducati from Honda and although Honda have a great reputation for build quality, my first impressions of the 848 are that it's a well designed and built bike. If mine does go wrong, I wouldn't say it was because it's a Ducati, it's just as prone to failure as the other bikes out there. Oh, and don't be afraid if the clocks steam up, it's quite a common problem and I believe it's referred to as 'character'!
I was musing on 848/899 finding an Evo Corse SE did it for me and so far it is great. Just looked at the Tune ECU android app and that looks really interesting. The 899 is beautiful though and I am sure at some point I will take the plunge. Welcome and enjoy.
Get the 848 Evo in my opinion it is the better bike and I have had both 848 Evo and the 899. Welcome to the forum mate
I bought the 848 and consider it much better looking than the 899 especially the single sided swinging arm. The 899 seems to have better electronics and ABS though.
Only known problem I had on mine was the radiator cracking at mount. Sure that would have been fixed on the later models. Mine was a 58 plate.
Might be selling my 1098... If so pics/details will appear soon.. Slight high jack.. Apologies for doing so!
