Having covered a couple of hundred miles on the roads in my 848 Evo (and loving it) the only thing that's annoying me is the slippy seat! I find that unless I put unnecessary tension on the pegs my package slides tankwards! I'm just wondering which is best; the racing seat or superpole seat? It's for road and occasional track use.
^ agree. But this seat increases height by an inch. Not so good if you are short but probably best seat for normal height people. Being hard rubber, it shouldn't rip or tear as easily as the others.
Should also say that while changing the seat over, change the two seat holder bolts for stainless jobbies. Can't remember the size M5 or M6 X 35 or 40mm. Reason being the recesses for the screws hold water well so mild steel ones rust and stain the seat a bit.
Yep, i am 6ft 4" and I have the superpole which gives a little extra leg room. The down side is it is quite hard and gives me a numb butt after a while.
Hi mate, I have a "zero gravity" seat and can't speak highly enough of it, very comfy and looks the biz. A bit pricey but worth it IMHO. Check elsewhere how people get on with it. Pic attached.
I had a Ducati performance seat, wanted to be sat 'in' the bike as much as possible, and it was MUCH grippier, which helped. I wished I would have tried the super pole seat as it seems to have a lip at the front and be a little more 'dished' which might help feel a bit more secure
The Superpole seat helped me in 3 ways - It's very grippy, I don't unintentionally move about at all. The extra height helps in the comfort stakes. I don't get any cramp, which I would after a day on the standard seat. It's not slanted forward as the standard seat it. There is more depth at the front of the seat than the rear, so the seat base is more horizontal than standard. I was forever sliding towards the tank with the standard seat. And as above, stainless seat bolts are a good idea. They are M5 x 35mm and are coppers on eBay.
FWIW i had my original seat recovered with a Luimoto Team Italia suede cover. Pricey but no slip, sorted!
Good idea about changing the bolts for stainless (I think they're M5 x 35mm). Did you bother changing those "top hat washers" as well, which are also mild steel I think? If so (or even if not!) where did/can you get them? Thanks Andrew
@AndrewS didn't bother with the top hats. You'd probably have to get them made up in stainless. Never got round to it...
Thanks, think I'll just do the bolts for now. Can't find anything like the top hat thingys on the web so far.
