All the factories want one of the ' top guns ' It's only Ducati who don't really have one with Suzuki nearly having one. I'd like to see Mav stay with Suzuki as I see him getting the bike a little higher than maybe many other could . With out him they could drop back again maybe. Personally , I'm pretty much over the Rossi love in and if not careful with him riding for the next 3 years it could see him turning from the GOAT to a slightly bitter rider if not managed properly.
Your'e right Max was on the Honda in 2003 and came 3rd in the championship..worse than he did on the 990 Yamaha in 2002 when he came 2nd,i seem to remember the only person that saying the Yamaha was crap at the time was....yes youv'e guesed it Max! you could argue that because Max did better on the 990 Yamaha than he did on the 990 Honda the Yamaha was the better bike! like i said after Max left Yamaha thier top rider was Careless Chuca, at that time hardly a benchmark
i don't think Rossis age is an issue if he still has the hunger he could race for another 5 years, and lets face it if mm & loz get injured and with Dani struggling at the moment there is every chance rossi could win the title, Personally i would have preferred Rossi to have went to wsb instead of joining Ducati because even at that time he wasn't the top Factory rider and Loz was only going to get better,i really don't think Loz would prefer MM as a team mate, at the moment i don't see Loz having much fear or concern with Rossi but with MM as a team mate he would be not be a happy bunny!
Maverick to Honda and Dani to Suzuki As for Rossi , not bothered what he does as Lorenzo is the quicker rider , but he should save his energy for the track instead of the press room, his days of mind games are over.
....at the moment. Wouldn’t count your chickens just yet, Jorges prone to the odd mental brain fart as has been witnessed more than once in the past.
I found a few things strange about Rossi's behaviour at the weekend. It strikes of a little desparation. It would be a shame if this carries on and tarnishes his reputation a little more. All of the on track gesticulation towards Lorenzo was meant for race direction to see. Then he talks afterwards about how he was given a penalty point last year for something similar. He went on to say that he doesn't think Lorenzo should be penalised. Yeah right, why mention it then? Lorenzo is stronger mentally than many give him credit for. Yep he can be petulant, but he hunted Rossi down last year knowing one mistake would have cost him that championship. Stoner is lurking about and if he does get back on a Ducati, it's one less seat for a top rider. I can't help but think Rossi knows he's onto a good thing with the Yamaha, so get the seat nailed down quickly. If he decideds not to do the full 3 years that's his choice, but if he does, then he has the seat. I also fully expect Rossi to try to goad Lorenzo into jumping ship with comments on how Lorenzo wouldn't be able to win on a Ducati. Lorenzo is to wise to fall for it though. He'll be where he thinks he has the best chance of winning and I think that's Yamaha.
The cracks have started to show in the last few years, paranoia and desperation were plain to see, somebody in his camp should have the balls and tell him to calm down
love this stuff!!!! what ever the out come of it all, its just so good to have it back on the box and back in the banter.
yeah i bet that's the first time a factory test rider has been quicker than the factory boys..wonder how much hes been offered to return..must be great when you don't need the money!
Rossi's great strength is in racecraft and overtaking - improvisation, probably. Lorenzo's is in consistent speed. When I watched him at Silverstone last year, he seemed much faster in the corners than anyone else and so smooth you felt he could be going faster (though I doubt he could, or he would). Lorenzo is a faster rider these days than Rossi and I would expect him to beat him consistently. What he might not like is the fact that about 60 or 70% of spectators are decked out in Rossi colours. He will never be the star in that team with Rossi in it. That must be a little galling for the no. 1 rider. Would Stoner on the Ducati wipe the floor with everyone? I'm not so sure. I doubt he's hungry enough. It is a question of hundredths, and steely determination saves you a little time. He doesn't desperately (or at all) want to compete in Moto GP. Maybe we would consent to do it if cajoled/paid enough, but he wouldn't have 100% motivation. Remember when Baylis did a few WSBK races. He was no longer the God he was. Very good, of course, but not able to dominate as he had. Just not hungry enough.
True...but didnt stoner just prove he still has the speed even after years off a motogp bike and no training..maybe he wouldnt piss it but he would stick the boot in big time.
I'm no great Stoner fan . Oh yes he can ride a bike , that's never in question but I never felt the love for him until now. Now I watched him interviewed at the weekend just willing him to get back out there and ruffle some feathers. Is he fast enough to win races, hell yes . You never lose the talent that guy has.
