Now I've got my feet under the table without been chased off the forum, the questions are coming thick and fast lol... As per the thread title really, my recent purchase has a small crack on the dash Perspex. I have also noted that it mists up occasionally. Are these both common problems? Also is there any tried and tested way of preventing this from happening again?? I was lucky enough to be on the ball and bagged a second hand dash (not tested) from a breakers for £56.00 the other week via ebay. I don't intent changing before next winter when I will hopefully doing quite a few little bits and bobs to bring things up to my usual standard and taste so to speak. I'm guessing swapping just the Perspex cover is the way to go and more than likely quite a fiddly and patients testing job for a 6'4" lump with clown hands like me
The dash on my 1098 was forever misting up. Ducati changed it under warranty (for a different reason - faulty trip counters) but the replacement misted up just as badly. Lots of people were complaining at the time. Thankfully no sign of misting on the dash on the 1299 so far...
got a 1200 monster and just had the dashboard replaced under warranty due to moisture captured inside. They did warn me though that it might happen again. Fingers crossed it wont.
Back then some people reported good results after taking the dash off the bike and storing is somewhere wam and dry for a few days.
personally i aint got the tools or the skills to do something like that, let alone touch it when the bike is under warranty and risking to void it.
Thanks for the responses chaps... Annoying as the problem is, it's not so bad knowing I'm not the only one with this and from doing some more searching on this it seems to be a case of 'they all do that sir'... I guess I have now encountered my fist Ducati Quirk
Thanks El Toro, I feel even better now... First bike with digital dash so all new territory to me. Common case of poor design & material choice by a number of manufacturers and not just our Italian friends
Every manufacturer has it's quirks. My ZX10R had a foot peg that vibrated like buggery, and no matter now many times the dealer tried to cure it it just continued to vibrate to the point my right foot was always numb. But apart from that I loved that bike
A very cleaver bloke managed to change the Perspex in his dash a year or so ago. Means striping the dash down a bit but he provided excellent instructions for doing this. There was a link to his fix on this forum.
Thank you, will have a search for it as when I do change mine it would be good to repair my existing one and keep as good spare for future use!

Anyone know or have a pic of where there is a safe place to drill a tiny hole in the dash case to stop it misting up?
My misting problems seem to stem from condensation in a cold garage. Since making sure the temperature doesn't drop near the dew point, my dash has stopped misting.
Useful to know, have plans to build new garage and use existing one as a workshop and store in the next few years. New garage will be at the front of the house and attached so will be treated to a couple of radiators to keep temp slightly higher during the cooler months! Will hopefully help me out further down the line
