916 Heavy Throttle

  1. image.jpg Hi guys after 20 odd years of wanting a Ducati I have taken the plunge and got a 916,it's a 1997 Biposto with a mono tail unit, other than that it's pretty much standard.the last few bikes I've owned have been a TL 1000s and a Triumph speed triple.I love the 916 on the road but have found the throttle to be very stiff.I takes quite a bit of input from the wrist and sometimes feels all or nothing.I used to be able to blip the throttle with thumb and forefinger on the TL and speed triple.you just can't do that on this.maybe it's a get use to it and get some wrist muscles. Thanks guys.

  2. It doubt it should be like that, I have three 748's and all have very light throttles that are perfect for me. I also have a 998, which I purchased new, and that has a very heavy throttle and I put that down to a different injector setup and a heavier spring.

I would personally check all is well as you could have a cable or injector problem that could be easily resolved by a run through the system.

  3. Kia ora bro... welcome.. nice bike, we need more pics though! its not something silly like the bar end binding on the grip? where in NZ are ya dude?

  4. I agree with the others , something is amiss it shouldn't be at all stiff. There's very little to go wrong.

  5. My 916 throttle is very light, even with a fast-action throttle cam so there's something wrong with yours.

To contrast my Guzzi has a really heavy throttle and it also has double the travel meaning, unless you grab it at the right angle you need two bites to get it fully open...

  6. In Matamata (Hobbiton) mate, yeah na mate can open butterflies but fair amount of pressure needed.

  8. Thats nice ^^^^^,as others have said, the throttle is not usually heavy, even for a limp wristed type like me!

  9. That's all good then,I will trace cable back to butterfly connection tomorrow, like I said no way can you blip it with thumb and forefinger,
