Advice On Servicing - Ducati Croydon?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by pisquano, Mar 29, 2016.

  1. hi guys
thinking of taking my HYM 821 SP to Croydon for the annual service.
I would normally consider Metropolis, but I think their fees are insulting (they charge almost £100 more than Croydon)

has anyone taken their bike to Ducati Croydon? good? bad?

    thanks!

  2. Can't comment on Ducati croydon, but can't recommend Pro-Twins in Godstone enough, depending on where you are of course.

  3. hey if ya in London or near enough check out ducati pro team.. they're just in kent (strood, 20 mins from sth London) and probably the best value independent ducati only outfit on the planet.. or at least near London.. seriously call Al n have a chat.. he is very good knowledgeable people and a gent of the old school.

  4. Thanks but it needs to be official. It's because of Ducati warranty

  5. I'm not sure if that's correct..

  6. As previously discussed elsewhere on here, Ducati UK certainly seem to be hardening their attitude towards out of warranty good will claims which puts more significance on the in warranty period service being carried out by an authorised service agent, be they a dealer or only a workshop. 7. as I say I'm not sure... I would have thought that providing it is a competent / qualified mechanic using oem parts the warranty would still be good... but talk to Al at pro team. he wont bullshit ya as to weather ya warranty would be valid or not.. all he does is work on ducs and is an honest bloke.

  8. I'm not sure of the specific case law but it recognised now that manufacturers cannot insist on authorised workshop servicing if, as you rightly say, OE parts are used and the service requirements are carried out by a "competent" mechanic. However, as more and more owners are finding, manufacturers are finding ways to tie you in their network to circumvent the case law. Conditions attached to cheap finance deals and PCPs spring to mind. My advice to any vehicle owner would be to maintain the authorised service record on time or mileage whichever comes first, for the warranty period to minimise that slight chance the manufacturer declines a repair. Maintaining it beyond the warranty period is another issue. I for one have had an out of warranty good will dash replacement because I have always had the service done by the supplying dealer on time. Andy

  9. I'm looking at you.. look left...:D I know in the states it has been recognized that
a qualified independent can carry out work and not jeopardise ya warranty but perhaps as always the uk is years behind... hence the reason for everybody hating you lot... night night xxxxxxx

  10. From Ducati.com website
Three service coupons must be used to ensure continued validity of the conventional warranty Ducati offers consumers: at 1,000 km (or six months), 12,000 km (or 12 months) and 24,000 km (or 24 months), to be performed by any official Ducati workshop. In the case of the Hypermotard, Hypermotard SP and Hyperstrada bikes, starting with model year 2013, service coupons are for 1,000 km (or six months), 15,000 km (or 12 months) and 30,000 km (or 24 months). The warranty will be forfeited if the bike is repaired or overhauled by an unauthorised workshop, or if non-original parts are used; the warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents, overloading and improper or negligent use, and does not apply to motorcycles used in sporting competitions of any type; motorcycles which are rented out are particularly subject to wear and damage as use and maintenance may not always be performed in accordance with the instructions in the Service Booklet.
The warranty is international, and is therefore also valid outside the country where the bike was purchased; it is transferred to the new owner if the bike is sold, and includes roadside assistance and Ducati Card Assistance medical insurance.

Detailed information may be found in the Service Booklet supplied with the bike.

Please note that the above general conditions of warranty offered by Ducati do not in any way compromise the mandatory rights of the physical person identified as the "consumer" under his or her own national legislation. The conventional warranty offered by Ducati therefore adds to and does not replace the warranty provided under the applicable legislation.

  11. I use Ducati Croydon for my Multi, which I bought from them.
I have no complaints about their work, but have no experience of other Ducati workshops to compare them to.

  12. I also use Ducati Croydon and having used metropolis as well I definitely prefer Croydon even though it's further away for me.
