  1. The baffles have been in mine since I got it, tried it without and it's definitely noticeably deeper, but I am not sure whether it's 'much' louder as I already think the 899 is mechanically really quite noisy.

So Do you all run without baffles? is there any noticeable difference in performance? the baffles are so small I can't see there is a big difference.

  2. Phill,i think you need to change the options to with or without. Is it yes i run without or yes i run with,if you get my drift.

  3. No No No baffles!!!

(Unless your afraid of Catching the 'Clap' ) ;)

  4. Of course, will do, need to do it off the PC though so will do it tomorrow.

I'm assuming everyone will say they run without baffles! And most will ask me if I have grown a vagina! I never ran baffles on my 848 evo with Arrows, but I wasn't commuting all the time on it

  5. No baffles for me on 899. Not sure if the 1299 oem cans have baffles but its hideously loud. In a good way.

  6. No baffles here. I do have to wheel it around the office for parking due to upsetting the neighbours though! I've always thought standard cans sounded louder as the Termis are nice and deep. Also the map updates in the last 6-12mths seemed to make it quieter but that's probably just my deafness due to Ducati ownership progressing haha!

  7. Hell no, have you grown a Virgina ;-)

  8. Okay, the vote thing won't let me change it to remove the Yes and No (I guess because some have voted) so let's just forget that!

My trouble is that I live next to chav's so it's a case of whether I want to risk giving them ammo. I'll see how I go, can always push it to the end of the road and start it, not the biggest drama.

Ref the maps, well mine has the exhaust servo cables etc in the box of 'no longer required' bits so I would assume that the valve is always open now!

  9. When I changed from the standard cans to the Termi's I kept the baffles in, my logic being that surely the termi's were going to be even louder than the already loud standard cans, even with their baffles in. In my head I couldn't imagine wanting to take them out and for them to be even louder still. But after my first, very short ride I took them straight out as I felt they were significantly quieter than the standard cans. With them out I'd say they're around the same kind of volume as the standard cans were. So yep, baffles out :upyeah:

  10. What are baffles????

  11. sound better with, imo, and my neighbours also

  12. Mine don't come with baffles and you can't fit them, as many have said on here the sound is deeper, it's probably slightly louder but in no way extreme... Take em out and let your bike sing!!!

  13. Yeah I keep switching between having baffles in and out. I am convinced I get a more immediate response and feeling of better low down drive with them out, not by loads but definitely cleaner pick up.

Also it does sound much basier, which I like because I still think my mates 748r with termi's sounds the best of the lot!

  14. Baffles out and flapper valve out too which gives you a nice pop every quick up shift

  15. I don't understand why the flapper valve out thing is such a big deal? I have no cables etc on mine or motor, is the valve not just sat in the fully open position all the time now then?

  16. Yes it is. That flapper is still there in the exhaust system though which is the reason I fully removed it on my 1199 when I fitted the Termi's. I'm sure it makes zero difference to exhaust flow, but for the sake of a little time with the dremel and some washers to seal everything up I just felt that it was a more complete job to remove it all, but I don't think it really matters.

  17. not sure if you guys read my post a couple of weeks back but I have owned my 899 for about 4 weeks I didn't test ride it when I purchased it anyway rode it a couple of times Termi fitted without baffles and the bike is too loud my my sensitive ears (Tinnitus) even with ear plugs. I fitted the baffles and no difference in fact the bike hurt my ears at traffic lights the thing is just so bloody loud I think because of leaning over the engine the exhaust is short and by your feet and it's also facing the floor'ish the clatter of the engine it's just too much for me and I ride BRITISH 60's bikes!
So guess what I have sold the 899 after 4 weeks ownership if the bike was quieter I would keep it for sure I have rode about 60 miles on it not even had it in 'race' mode ah! well at least I can say I've had one!:sob:

  18. No baffles - unless at a track day that is strict on noise.....

  19. Standard headers, cables disconnected, Termis with baffles for UK track days, without for Euro ones. Took Y piece out and removed flapper. Really easy job. Wow the difference afterwards. So although the cables were disconnected, that flapper must have had some negative effect
